    Re: Official Slider Discussion

yeah, having variability too high can actually decrease your walk total cause it tends to make pitches drift over the plate even when you're trying to throw a ball

i'm still working on a new set of sliders that will give more K's but not make the game too easy

i'm making some drastic changes, for instance I have CPU Contact at 35 right now and i am testing by switching teams every inning and doing all the pitching

anyway, i don't when i'll be done and now i have to go do MOM stuff so i won't get to play any more today

Thanks for the sliders Dork. I used them in one game and I had a one-hitter with Millwood. I scored 2 runs and the computer scored 1(Billy Wagner gave up a homer to someone in the nineth). But I love the sliders. Thank you.

If you lower the pitcher fatigue, does that mean the pitcher will tire less? Or is it the other way around?

I'm still tinkering around with a few things. I'm having a hard time finding a good set of sliders where I can K the CPU at a realistic rate, yet still give up a bunch of hits at times (without having the CPU take my deep 3-4 times a game). It seems I either dominate the CPU hitters or they just hit HR after HR. I'd love to find a setting where they string together 5 or so hits in a row off of me.

I have to say that so far, Dork88's sliders, which were posted on 5/1/04 at 2:06 p.m., are the most realistic sliders that I have played with so far. You get variability from your pitchers, the computer strung together several consecutive hits, and you were able to get a decent amount of Ks against the computer.

Dork then posted his updated or tweaked sliders on 5/6/04 at 7:28 a.m. However, I have found that it is far too difficult to strike out the computer. Also, the computer does not take enough pitches, hitting the ball on the first pitch far too many times to be realistic. Again, check out Dork's 5/1/04 sliders. Best to date!!!.
