    Re: Official Slider Discussion

I have to say that so far, Dork88's sliders, which were posted on 5/1/04 at 2:06 p.m., are the most realistic sliders that I have played with so far. You get variability from your pitchers, the computer strung together several consecutive hits, and you were able to get a decent amount of Ks against the computer.

Dork then posted his updated or tweaked sliders on 5/6/04 at 7:28 a.m. However, I have found that it is far too difficult to strike out the computer. Also, the computer does not take enough pitches, hitting the ball on the first pitch far too many times to be realistic. Again, check out Dork's 5/1/04 sliders. Best to date!!!.

I'm having a hard time finding a good set of sliders where I can K the CPU at a realistic rate, yet still give up a bunch of hits at times (without having the CPU take my deep 3-4 times a game). It seems I either dominate the CPU hitters or they just hit HR after HR. I'd love to find a setting where they string together 5 or so hits in a row off of me.

Joeboo i'm having the same problem. I am also tweaking the sliders to try and get the right amount of hits and k's for the CPU. Right now im' playing around with the take balls slider seeing if that will help. I dont really want to touch anything else. Because if i put the contact and skill sliders higher than 50 they hit everything. So if i find something that works pretty well i will post it and hope u would do the same(I know you will)

                  Hey guys,

Thanks to everyone that's tried my sliders and gave me some props. I'm still working on a new set but haven't played that much lately. I'm looking for what joeboo and others are looking for and I'm close. I will play today and may have a new set posted later, i just don't want to post something prematurely and have people waste their time with sliders that aren't perfect.

I'm happy with the last game I played, here's how it went:

                  Angels 6 8 2
                  Yankees 5 7 0

I struck out five with Contreras over 6 1/3. I'm finding striking out batters to still be tough but the hitters are very comepetent, and I need them to be to get a good game. Also, I need to pitch a little differently at times, i got a couple of strikeouts on lousy pitches out of the strikezone when I was ahead in the count which I was surprised to see, so i think i will throw more junk.

I think what can't be fixed is foul balls. The CPU hardly ever fouls the ball off, and this is a major contributor to a lack of walks by me, and even K's. I mean, how am I supposed to strike someobody out if everything they hit gets put into play? And how am I supposed to walk anyone? Anyway, I've been lowering the Contact slider but then it made even hit balls real weak, it's like the Contact slider affect Hitting skill and Power also.

I think I'll play a game right now, if I like the results, I'll post the sliders.

Oh yeah, sorry about that last set, it was indeed a little bit too hard to fan the CPU. My bad.

Dork - Thanks. I'm stuck at work so most of my testing isn't done until at night or the weekend. Actually I'm off tomorrow so I'll get a bunch of games/testing in. Can't wait to see what you've come up with....

The thing is, as I get better at the game I need more challenge from the CPU so sliders are always changing. While the last set was too hard, getting the right CPU hitting sliders has been the toughest part of this whole thing.
