Again, thanks to Joe for his incredible, hard work!

As with all sliders you may need to adjust certain areas of the game to fit your style of play (e.g., if you're having trouble stealing bump of the Runner Baserunning Speed), but I think these sliders show a pretty good balance.

Please give em a try and let us know what you think.

Just a note: I know some people might disagree with the AI Fielder Aggression set at 40, but I would rather sacrifice one or two extra diving catches by the CPU to stop a play than the CPU pitcher being unable at all to pick up a slow dribbler in the infield (I was getting way too many cheap base hits after being jammed by the pitcher, and the pitcher couldn't pick up the ball after it stopped rolling).

Also remember to have your batters work the pitch counts... don't just swing at every pitch... I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the results.

Thanks for the great sliders. Two questions: What pitchinig interface are you guys using? And are you using both contact and power buttons for swinging?
As for stats, do you guys get walks thrown by the computer? I havent been real patient yet but was wondering how you guys made out...

I use the Classic interface with the Pitching Cursor off and Vibration on. As for the power button I use it on rare occassion, depending on the batting situation.

And yes, I have gotten walks from the CPU... you need to be patient and work the counts. I usually will take the 1st pitch (unless it's big and fat down the middle of the plate) and wait for a pitches in my hot zone. Typically I can draw about three walks a game, a lot of it depends on the pitcher you are facing.

i've tried the baserunner speed at 50 as you guys thought it might reflect real life speed but i've seen a couple of my slower guys almost get thrown out at 1st, i'm sure eventually it would happen, i see you guys have baserunner speed boost on maybe that is where i could use it or when trying for a triple, don't think at 50 you'd see many of those w/o some sort of speed boost, how does it work do you press A button or something, also what about fielder speed boost do you find you can get to everything in the outfield easily as i see you have fielder speed at 50 as well, doesn't that take away cpu hits that might drop in with slower fielder speed, i also see you lowered human errors to 25, was there to many at 50, ok enough ?'s, lol, i'm going to give these a try but just had a few ? as i play some but not enough so i depend on you guys for some base sliders, thanks again

No I rarely use the baserunner speed boost (unless I'm stealing or trying to leg out a double I know will be close...) so my slower guys routinely get thrown out at first on infield grounders (like Chris Snyder or Tony Clark), but my faster guys (Royce Clayton, Luis Terrero, and Craig Counsell) can usually leg out slow grounders or well placed bunts.

As for fielding speeds I have had all sorts of success with Human & AI set at 50, it all depends on who's batting, where he hits the ball (gaps, along the line, etc.), and the arm stength of the outfielder. I've had doubles in the gaps, I've had triples (especially with Clayton, and Glaus just got a close one for me last night when I tried to leg one out). I've had bloopers to the outfield... all sorts of hits.

Likewise I've seen the CPU get doubles and triples off of me... that damnable Tori Hunter slammed a triple against me in my last game, driving in two runs. I barely sqweaked out a 4-5 win with a bottom of the ninth double in the gap by Chad Tracey.

As for errors I only dropped them because some people were concerned with the number of errors they were having. I personally had no problem with this. One game I had three errors, but I've had many games without an error with the Human Error set at 50. Frankly I think errors are tied in some way to pressure situations, since most errors I've seen happen with men on and pressure mounting. I see very few errors on routine plays. So really the Human Error setting to me is just a preference... I personally am back to using Human Error.

ok, thanks, actually i was referring to the baserunner speed at 50 regarding a slower runner getting thrown out at 1st on a hit to shallow rightfield, i played a couple games at that speed and alnost had two guys thrown out, i forget who they were but i know they were very slow runners but this is not something i would like to see but thats maybe where i could use the runner speed boost, i'm not a big fan of speed boosts though as i think they might be overriding actual stats but maybe not, wish we had an editor, i'm thinking everybody in this game is just a tad slower than they should be.

Oh, okay... just make sure your AI Throwing Aggression is at 10, if you go any higher the CPU right fielder will often try to throw out the guy 1st. But again it depends on the situation. I remember a few years ago at BOB Tony Gwynn got thrown out at 1st by the right fielder when Gwynn knocked a wicked line drive to right field... right fielder grabbed it and proceeded to throw out Gwynn...

Now I have noticed the CPU is a little more anxious to try this when you have two outs and guys in scoring position. Late in the game (bottom of the 7th) I had Chris Snyder (sloooowww guy) up to bat, men on 2nd and 3rd, two outs. Snyder hit a one hop fly to the right fielder, guy on third came home and the runner was advancing from second. The right fielder grabbed the hop and threw it to first almost getting Snyder. In retrospect this was a really smart play by the outfielder since he had a chance to save the run and get out of the inning.

On the other hand I've had the same situation, but under different circumstances... Snyder up, no outs, nobody on.... Snyder smacked a line drive to right which one hopped and the CPU took the safe route and threw it to second... Some it could be situation dependant.

But please keep me up to date on any observations you might have.
