I have been using the sliders and I really like them. The only thing is I strike out about 4 people a game, with good pitchers too like Smoltz.

What are your grayed-out throwing settings for user and AI set at? I realize you can't change them, but as I noted in another thread, they're locked to whatever difficulty level setting you started tweaking from. That means that the throwing settings might be differing from user to user, depending on which setting they started from.
I'll play few a games and see how it goes (including those tweaks you just mentioned). The passed balls fix has made the game a lot easier to stomache.Comment

Originally posted by bigfnjoe96These sliders were set from the Custom Setting. All sliders are @ default 50. Including the grayed-out throwing sliders.
Catcher Throwing Power: 75
Infielder Throwing Power: 70
Outfielder Throwing Power: 70
AI Catcher Throwing Power: 50
AI Infielder Throwing Power: 50
AI Outfielder Throwing Power: 45
The rookie settings. Pressing R2 to reset to default didn't help either, it just resets EVERY custom slider to 0. If there's something I'm missing, I'd love to know what it is - if not, I guess I can live with the All-Star settings. They're not all that far from 50, and to be honest, the on-the-field difference isn't that noticeable anyway (except when they're set to 0 - yikes.)
Might be a PS2 issue too. Anyway, for the time being I'll plug the sliders in starting from All-Star, and see what happens.Comment

Re: BIGFNJOE & GALLANDRO'S MLB 2K5 Pure Realism Sliders
i've been using a set of sliders i made which were started from all-star, i switched from pro sliders cause cpu hits better to me on all-star also i found from on pro that i could always throw out cpu runners cause the default arm strength is to high for human and there is no way to up cpu base stealing speed but on all-star your catcher strength is 10 less, now they can steal on me, had to up my steal success though to counter there higher catcher throw strength.
ps: i do recall seeing the arm strengths all at 50 one time but not sure how they got there, i was clicking the reset button (xbox) and they went to 50 but now on custom they always go to 0.Comment

Re: BIGFNJOE & GALLANDRO'S MLB 2K5 Pure Realism Sliders
Here's some results from my first game played. I just did random select for the teams. I'll play with my Cubs at some point, but right now I just want an overall picture.Take with grain of salt, I'm not very good.....
PHI (me) 0 4 1
COL 2 6 0
WP - Kennedy
LP - Wolf
SV - Chacon
COL - Kennedy 8 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 10 K
PHI - Wolf 5.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
Summary - As you can probably tell from the line score and pitching lines, this was a pitcher's duel all the way. The 10 K's for Kennedy were mostly thanks to me swinging and missing a LOT. That pitch speed absolutely killed me. He had about 3 or 4 three pitch K's though (over the plate, not getting me swinging at junk), so maybe that's something to watch out for.....
The lone error went to Jimmy Rollins, an infield grounder ate him up. Nothing too out of the ordinary. No passed balls/WP either. Pretty good stuff....I'll play a few more random select games and report back.Comment

Re: BIGFNJOE & GALLANDRO'S MLB 2K5 Pure Realism Sliders
My next game:
ARZ 1 7 0
ANA 5 9 1
WP - Kelvim Escobar
LP - Russ Ortiz
Escobar 6 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
Ortiz 3 IP 6 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
ANA - Cabrera 1-4, HR, 4 RBI
SB - R. Clayton 2, S. Green
Summary - Ok, so I was a little hasty about my not being able to hit that pitch speed. 9 hits is plenty. The big one, as noted above, was a Batter's eye lock on a low fastball, and Cabrera didn't miss it. I did have one concern in this game though - The CPU attempted 6 steals, and was cut down 3 times. 2 of them were at third. Clayton I can understand running, but getting cut down twice at third? You'd think he would've learned the first time. It's one game, so I wouldn't say it's the sliders just yet, but it is something I'll keep an eye out for. At least it's easy to fix, if there is a problem.
Oh, and the error came right at the end of the game, when I threw the ball into left field instead of second trying for a double play. Again, nothing excessive. No PB/WP either (I believe that bug is officially squashed with these settings.)Comment
