    Are you serious?!?

Please tell me you're not serious.

My God! EA isn't defrauding anyone! Do you have even a vague concept of what the BBB is actually for?!?

    Return. The. Game.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Return it and get what $30 in trade in value for an open game? Come on Fossen 10 position players in year 2 on every CPU controlled team and no player progression. I think we deserve an answer from EA

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
Then get pissed at EA. Or get pissed at the game store you purchased from, and their return policy.

But the Better Business Bureau? That's utterly ridiculous.

You paid money for a game that you don't like. Move on.

Do you call the BBB when you pay $10 for a movie, and hate it? Or when you buy an album that you don't like, you call the company to complain, hoping they'll release a "patch"?

BTW - I bought the game on both platforms, and decided to stick with the Xbox version. I sold my PS2 copy for $44.95, losing a whole $5 on the deal.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

An implied warranty is that a product will work for its intended purpose. Here we have an issue and here is where your analogies fall short. Comparing a movie is apples and oranges.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Sorry - my analogy is correct.

Franchise mode works. You can play 120 years, if so desired.

You just don't like the way it works. You feel they didn't do a good job with it - but the feature is there as promised.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Okay, so how did this rather large flaw escape critique from the reviewers on this site? Fear of EA or complete incompetence by the reviewer?

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Maybe they were actually playing the games instead of simming 120 years to see what would happen?

If you wanted a baseball game to sim seasons and just be the GM, it wasn't very smart to buy this one, even if the player progression was perfect.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

That's not what I wanted. I wanted a great playing baseball game with a great franchise mode. All the previews and early reviews promised me exactly that. But, what I got was a great playing baseball game with a broken, useless franchise mode.

To their credit, the player progression flaw is well hidden and I can see how OS could easily miss it. Those saying their bending over for EA are really jumping to conclusions and probably haven't even read OS' review.

Nonetheless, if people want to be vocal in their complaints, they should, by all means. This is a very large issue for some gamers (such as myself), and nothing is going to be done about it unless EA understands that fixing it will be in their best interest.

      Sure.

The moderators also have the right to say that something like contacting the BBB is sheer idiocy. I have a right to speak for common sense, don't I? The red name and the added time and responsibility doesn't mean I have to lose my opinions.

If I was bullying, I would be abusing my powers - locking or banning. Has that happened? Is this thread locked? Are you banned?

I think that complaining to the BBB is insane, and I said so. Differing opinions are what video game forums are for, right?

Look, unless you have been deputized to be a spokesman for the BBB then why dont you just let things sort themseleves out? The fact of the matter is that shoddy customer service is listed as a grievance of many among other items...so whats your problem? Maybe, if were lucky, by forcing EA to deal with this issue by responding to the BBB then maybe a patch or a replacement disk will become available. At the very least, people deserve more than these non answers they have been receiving. Why it has not dawned on you that we all might benefit is beyond me. Im not really interested in your interpretation of what the BBB is for.

Re: Tired of EA\'s dreadful customer service try the BBB link.

[quote = MVP 2004 Review]Speaking of Dynasty Mode, let’s dig in to the meat and potatoes of “MVP Baseball 2004”. In Dynasty Mode, you’ll take over a franchise, and can control its fate for up to 120 seasons. That’s right – it may indeed be possible to take the Detroit Tigers to a World Series by the year 2124…
As you set up your Dynasty, you may choose either the default rosters, saved rosters or a fantasy draft in conjunction with either to populate your league. You’ll choose your starting difficulty level (which can be changed during Dynasty play if things get too easy for you), and toggle various settings which will change the nature of your league. Unlocked “legends” can appear as free agents during the off-season if you so choose, adding an interesting wrinkle to Dynasty play. If the task of toppling the wealthy Yankees seems too daunting; turn off team budgets, and spend like you were “The Boss” yourself. For those who want to duplicate the MLB season exactly, the Fair Trades option can be turned off; providing the user the ability to make any trades they want for any team they want at any time they want.

You’ll choose your organization next, which will consist of a Major League club, and their Triple-A and Double-A affiliates. You’ll notice their “Rival Teams” on this screen, as well. These are the teams you’ll want to beat to keep that all-important team chemistry at a high level. Team goals are available here as well; listed in the form of three-year goals and one-year “Stretch” goals. You’ll need to complete all of the three-year goals if you expect to keep your job. The one-year goals aren’t as critical, and they only need to be accomplished one time during a three-year span. These goals are heavily dependent on where the teams stand today. For example, the Yankees will expect you to win two World Series titles and 300 games in a three-year span, while the aforementioned Tigers would like to have one player finish in the top 10 in MVP voting, and win 100 road games in three seasons. Whether you succeed or fail in these goals will determine both your team’s budget and your job security.

The Dynasty Management screen has all the tools you need to succeed. Your team’s chemistry level will be listed at the top right; with your rating as a manager directly below it. Your club’s rankings in pitching, hitting, fielding and speed are also shown. The lower right-hand corner of the screen displays information about your next opponent, in the exact same format that your team’s information is displayed above it, with one exception: the Game Impact rating. Each game has an impact rating from one to ten. The higher the Game Impact rating, the more effect it will have on your squad’s chemistry; either positively with a win, or negatively with a loss. A few quick trigger button presses will display your upcoming schedule, budget, and standings in the same window. At the bottom of the screen, a sports ticker keeps you updated with all the happenings around the league. All of these things function in the exact same way for the minor league clubs, and a few simple button presses will toggle through the three teams in your organization.
The MVP Inbox provides the user with an e-mail system that keeps the player up to date with everything that happens inside and outside their organization. The e-mail system is deep and well-designed to quickly interface with the other menus in game. The Scouting Report will give you a detailed view of your next opponent, including a recap of the season series to date, as well as a look at their probable starting pitcher and lineup. Standings, stats and league news can all be accessed through the Around the League menu.

However, the true heart of Dynasty Mode resides in the Team Management menu. From here, you can access your payroll, broken down by every player in your organization and negotiate contracts. Every player has a happiness rating, and their salary will undoubtedly play a large part in that. When you negotiate a contract with a player, you’ll also give them an expected role with your club. If the player doesn’t get the playing time he’s been promised, you can expect trouble down the road. You’ll set your lineups, rotations and depth charts from the Team Management menu as well. You’ll also be able to call up hot prospects, put players on the disabled list, and see who’s been suspended- and for how long. The Transactions sub-menu is the last (and perhaps most fun) part of Team Management. From here, you can initiate trades, put players on the trading block (and likely affect their happiness, as well), and search other teams’ trading blocks in the hopes of improving your team. When you’re happy with the teams in your organization, it’s time to play ball!

When a day begins, the games in your organization will be listed in chronological order, and that’s the order in which they must be played. You may choose to play the game, “quick” simulate it, or manage it via the aforementioned Manager Mode. In any case, you’ll have the opportunity to “intervene” – hop into the game and play it yourself. You can also hop back out of the game at any time, and simulate or manage the remainder of the contest. Once the day is through, you’ll be taken to a screen displaying the latest league standings.

Dynasty Mode is a remarkably complex, challenging and addicting feature, and it provides nearly unlimited replay value. Once again, however, there’s room to improve. CPU-controlled teams’ lineups sometimes appear off-kilter, with high on-base percentage players hitting in the heart of the order as opposed to some free-swinging sluggers. It doesn’t happen with every team, but it does happen on occasion. While a myriad of statistics are tracked, some stats (like Holds for pitchers) are absent. Far too many players seem to retire in the off-season; including some decent young prospects retiring for odd reasons.

                  <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

This much gets written about the Dynasty Mode, a mode than any half way intelligent person would know intrigues a lot of gamers, and no mention of a gap the size of the Grand Canyon?

If you don't want us to believe that you are not EA Fanboys, then act like it, and don't bemoan anyone with an opinion, or solution that maybe negative towards EA. That, or find some half way competent reviewers. It is a shame that this site can get advanced copies, yet quality sites cannot.

If there is anything that really peeves me off it is reading this kind of statement over and over... If that’s the truth then it's because you are willing to accept that type of quality. Just keep telling the companies that’s it's ok to make products that aren't tested, pieces missing, parts broken.. I’m sure they will listen.. They have been..... It's quite obvious...

I can hear it now... ( Company Quality control supervisor) Hey Bob... Did we get that issue taken care of that some of the Beta testers mentioned.???

( BoB ) OH, hehehe, Hey, Don't worry about it man, Will ship it as it is, according to our market studies, Most people figure that its gonna have some problems... HEHEHEEH, As a matter of fact, they expect it too... Wouldn't wanna disappoint them.. Might start a new tread or something.

( Supervisor ) Yea, Come to think of it.. You're right, That last product we sent out was full of bugs, I was reading some of the forum boards.. You should of heard them bitching, some even threatened too call BBB... But the others just told them to shut up, be thankful that they even got a game, and that no company is gonna put out a product without bugs.. JUST SIMPLY ACCEPT IT....

( BOB ) Hehe, Yep.. That’s what they expect, By GOD, that's what will give them.. I even put a new logo above our work shop... WE BUILD IT, THEY WILL ACCEPT IT.. Hey, Lets go have a beer.

( Supervisor ) Well, We were supposed to do some more testing, but Yea, you're right.. Who cares.. ?????

So you all just keep telling those who want and expect a quality product to SHUT UP, Quit complaining. We heard it enough already, Go whine somewhere else. It's good enough for me so it should be good enough for you, just go away attitude..

Besides, You guys should just ignore us, don’t read or respond to our post, Just keep taking whatever you get... But I personally will keep screaming for patches, and quality products that do exactly what they claim they will do..

Yes. I will agree that mistakes can be made in any product.. BUT WHEN THE COMPANY FINDS OUT THAT THEY MADE SOME... FIX THEM... SIMPLE.

OH, and do me just one favor... When EA does fix these issues, ( if they even bother ) Please shout out a huge THANK YOU to all those that whined, cried, screamed, over and over to them and got their attention..... It's those people that got the issues taken care of... But I’m sure most of you won't notice.. You’ll be far to busy playing you're perfect game...

Just remember, The problems that were corrected in this years version were bitched about by someone else last year.. The acceptors just benefited from it.
When I do something right, No one ever remembers.

If the review was just of gameplay, then the review should have said "We are just reviewig gameply, not any other aspect of the game."

Admit it, the reviewer missed this, or declined to mention it in the review, which was a mistake either way, because it is obviously a flaw that will stop people from buying a game, which is why people read reviews, to help them decide if they should or should not buy the game.
