I know it's a pain the butt, but somehow you have to get rid of a couple of big contracts and trade for players with about the same skill but for less money. All of the money that you lose during away games is going towards players salaries. Also lower your ticket prices so that you get close to a full house during your home games. Even if you have to lower them $10 - 15 bucks each, it's better than a half full stadium. Then these people will spend more money in your concessions and stores.

Re: Owner Mode Tips
Yeah I had to deal Giambi or Cliff Floyd, similar in production now but saves over $10 million a season. I have an extremely high payroll even after the trade obviously, but its a good challenge. It forces you to win. Also, in dynasty mode its easy to blow up your team and just develop prospects but owner mode prevents you from doing tha, which IMO is a lot more realistic and challenging.Comment

I don't like that a whole lot, I mean I see what they're doing but they should atleast let your normal roster be affordable for a year or two then make it where you have to start working it down. I want to play my Cards owner mode with the guys that are really on the team not with some cheaper guys just so I can succeed but guess I'll have to move some guys.Comment

I would'nt lower it that low. Keep prices within 10 bucks of the normal fee for tickets during the first half of the season. During the second half, if your team is a contender, you will make more money because the game impacts are greater during the second half so you can kinda overcharge depending on the series.
I ran a test for the first half of the season with cheap tickets and although I did fill the stadium up every game, my concessions could'nt even make up for the money lost from ticket sells even after I jacked the prices up.
For instance, I made 250K-300K a game(after money spent on staff and players) and my tickets were at 40-20 dollars a game. I made anywhere from 30-40K a game from concessions. I tried the cheap method, lowering ticket prices to fill the stadium and I made anywhere from 150K-200K a game but made 40-60K from concessions. Now you do the math and see which method makes more money.
The diffrence is'nt great but in the long run, those few thousand bucks you're missing out on can hurt you.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Since your media contract offsets depending on your team, it really does'nt make a difrence what team you play with. What matters is taking that team into the post season. If you have the Cards or BoSox, they expect you to be in the post season where those high salaries will pay off. And if you manage to make it there, then you should see a huge increase in revenue since you can overcharge then.
With a weaker team, its harder to make it into the post season therefor you will have to work harder(as a owner and a GM) to get those fans to the park and also win games. With a adverage team its even harder because they will have higher payrolls than a weaker team but they're not considered a contender like a good team so that when you gotta do the most wheeling and dealing.
I'll run some more test with each type of team tonight and post my findings.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Re: Owner Mode Tips
I need help here.
I just recently lost to the Reds at home and I'm approaching my final game on the homestand. I'm at around -$1 million in debt in only 6 six games. I doubt I'll be in the positives after my next game and its best to buy concessions/stores at the END of the homestand. Well, it doesn't look all that great for me.
What do I do? Do I just watch my money go bad when I'm on the road or not?
I bought only popcorn and soda for concessions and nothing else. I also had a free 2000 tickets for promotion last game, but didn't do that much good. My ticket prices for both lower and upper level are $10.Comment
