A couple of rumors floating around:

The Seattle Mariners want Carl Pavano in return for Randy Winn

The Cincinnati Reds may be willing to trade Adam Dunn to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Antonio Perez and Edwin Jackson

Cinci would be stupid to do that. Jackson and Perez for that matter have lost their luster.

I don't expect the Yanks to give up on a huge free agent signing for a guy who has played 5 games in CF this year.

It doesn't seem like there are that many deals for Dunn. The A's are interested, but the Reds want Blanton or that Garcia kid, but Beane wants no part of it.

I think the Astros are interested. I believe I read that they asked for Taveras and pitching prospects.

This is the best they can get, IMO.

Supposedly the A's are willing to trade P's Juan Cruz, Garcia and Dallas Braden and C Kurt Suzuki for Dunn. I don't believe the Reds will get a better offer than that.

The Yankees were willing to send Pavano and a significant amount of cash back to Florida for A.J. Burnett and Juan Encarnacion so it is believeable that they would send Pavano, who has not really pitched all that well, to Seattle for Winn.

That was something that Gammons just mentioned as a possibility. I don't think that is something that is actually being discussed. IMO, it looks like a good deal for both teams.

I can't imagine the A's doing that. They can't afford his salary. But that would be one heck of a team. They are tearing up right now. Just look at all the guys the A's gave up.

The A's could afford Dunn even after arbitration. They dumped Tim Hudson and Mark Mulder's salaries and will likely unload Barry Zito this winter. Dunn even after arbitration will still make less than Jason Kendall and Billy Beane is one of the most creative GM's in the league so he could find a way to fit Dunn into the A's budget over the next 3 years.

                    jesus

If the A's got Dunn I'd seriously be scared as hell to come across them in the Playoffs.

That rotation is sick, and is only going to get better. My man crush on Beane is alot stronger now.

I agree with the Burnett saga coming to a close sentiment, its annoying. And the last I've heard is that the White Sox are almost willing to part with alot to get him.

It doesn't make sense for Chi though, is Burnett that much of an improvement in the playoffs over Orlando Hernandez?

They need hitting far more than pitching, I'm still sticking with the belief that they'll be bounced in the first round. Especially if they draw the unfortunate card of facing the A's.

I am a diehard sox fan and i have the same feeling, that if the sox cross the A's in the playoffs they will be out in three. There is just something with the sox and playing the A's the last 5 years, they can't come close to beating them. I am starting to have flashbacks of the 2000 playoff series with Seattle all over again. The sox ran away with the division and then playoffs hit and poof. Lets just hope the sox have a chance a Wagner.

I think it'll be different in the playoffs though. I'd rather the Sox play Oakland than play the Angels.

I know of this offer but at least in this case they would be getting back a pitcher with good stuff in addition to a proven outfielder rather than just an outfielder who's never played CF before.

I used to think the same, but they have no need to trade Zito. IMO, I do believe they could fit Dunn's salary in with their current team.

For a GM who craves OPS and the 3 run homer, Adam Dunn would be a dream in Oakland...or Boston for that matter.
