Winn has played 505 games in CF and has a .991 career fielding percentage in CF. That sounds like a definite upgrade over the Williams/Womack/Matsui/Crosby/Cabrera debacle they have had so far.

Saw a Boston/Philly rumor on another board: Kelly Shoppach and Bronson Arroyo for Billy Wagner.

Someone said they heard it on Philly radio.

If the A's get added offense, wow, WATCH OUT. Harden is the truth and Zito is still no slouch. Add that with Haren and the rest of em, and you got yourself a POTENT playoff team. I dont know if they have enough to get past the Yankees or Angels, but they'll certainly put up a fight. I'd love to watch the A's and Angels in the ALCS. That'd be awesome.

What makes you assume it'll be the Yankees?

Still up in the air, the jist of it is the Red Sox didn't feel they were fetting enough in the trade giving up Ramirez/Shoppach and Sanchez for Cameron and Huff so they went back to the Mets and tried to get the Mets to add to the trade and the Mets basically said no. On the Mets side they will have to assume all of the remaining $64 million of Ramirez' contract and they are not happy about that.

So basically, if a deal can't be worked out by 12 noon ET the deal is off.

Rocky Mountain News: " Eric Byrnes, acquired less than three weeks ago from Oakland, was moved to Baltimore after the game Friday in exchange for fellow outfielder Larry Bigbie... Sources close to the situation said Bigbie will be sent to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for highly touted 25-year old catcher Kelly Shoppach."

So far, this has been the slowest trade deadline period that I can remember.

It's because teams are asking way too much for guys like Mark Redman and AJ Burnett, good players but not quite All-Stars. This deadline is gonna be a dud.

I'm glad the Pirates are asking for a ton for Redman. It's about time they stopped giving up players for lifetime minor leaguers.

However, the closer the deadline approaches and the more these GM's realize that most of the guys on their trading block won't be back next year, the more moves you'll see. It seems to happen this way every year.

Not to mention, I think we'll see some nice moves after the deadline. There's a few guys who could clear waivers easily.

Just heard Indians announcers saying that Winn is not in the lineup and not listed on the bench card (forget actually word for bench card they said). They keep saying he has probably been moved or close to be moved in a deal.

The Bigbie to Boston deal is dead, the Red Sox backed out as Shoppach would have been one of the players dealt in the Manny Ramirez trade which according to ESPN's Jayson Stark is "all but dead".
