Sure, Manny in Shea has the potential to be nice, but I'd rather have a happy Manny than one leaving Boston a disgruntled player. It doesn't look like this deal gets done without having to give up Petit(Milledge is a bit more expendable), which is part of the reason I'm a bit skeptical.

The Yankees may very well be the big winners. Cameron and Huff might not scare them too bad compared to Manny. The lineup gets a little bit weaker though the defense is upgraded.

well milledge and petit are in the deal.. from what i heard.. the deal right now is on hold due to the fact that boston thinks it is getting shafted.. so they want heilman but the mets dont want to give him up... but in the end i think they will.. the mets need his bat and baez is a good reliever for the pen.. this makes the mets better right now..

I'm a huge Mets fan and I'm really upset about the way we are playing. As of right now in dead last and 7 games out of first and 4 games out of the wild card, there's just NO need to make this deal, it would be just stupid to do. Manny is a baby I don't want him on the Mets anyway, and once again the Mets are chasing the Braves and they will not cathc them or the wild card this year, so is it really worth trading for a Jerk of a player at this point, Um Nope IMO.

THe red sox asked for more thsn just heilman. I don't expect this deal to get done by tomorrow at noon.

As a sox fan, do I hate to see Manny go? Yes...but I love the fact the Mets are taking on all of the salary...that's 67 million dollars for us to spend over the next three years. The D-rays are making out like Bandits though, four great prospects for Huff and Baez, not a bad deal at all.

Both Petit and Milledge were included in the deal from the getgo. I'm not sure what you mean.

You never know. Pedro always seemed to be a bit of a baby in Boston too, but I've yet to hear a peep out of him in NYC. The City's huge dominican population may appeal to players like Pedro and Manny by making them feel more at home. Minaya also has a way of making players feel welcome. It may be worth the risk. Manny is the type of player that makes every other player in your line-up that much more dangerous.

well look at it this way.. he is a baby but so is pedro and i am sure you love the way he is pitching for the mets. besides the fact that manny is a top 5 hitter in the game and the mets need a bopper.. he will be here next year when reyes and wright have more experience and pedro is back and there is also another buster olney rumor that the mets may trade floyd to the cubs for patterson.. cuz the cubs need a bat but i dont see how they give up patterson. it would be great for the mets.

and with pedro here and manny being from washington height i think it will work,

they can make a bit of a run with him but they set themselves up nicely next year..

                      reyes
                      beltran
                      manny
                      floyd
                      wright
                      piazza
                      manketiwc,anderso,woodward
                      cairo

thats a scary lineup... and their pitching is nice already

how many games have the mets lost cuz they cant score. they always lose 2-1 or 3-1 cuz they dont have that big booper to compliment the line up

and this will give beltran more fastballs so he can drive in more runs.. this is a great trade for the mets

excellent point squint.... i think the mets have to make this trade if they want to win in the next couple of years..

i mean this off season there is no big name that can help the mets bats..

the mets cant hit and they will not win cuz of that.. they got good pitching and with manny helping the offense this team can win the division next year and make a run at the wild card this year

no way... the devs are the harderst team to make deals with.. and to me they are getting the mets best 2 prospects but thats what they are prospects.. you dont know what they will turn out to be. if millidge is good he wont reach the super skills batting that manny has brought to baseball.. manny is a bone head out on the field but his bat is legendary.. the dude has 92 rbi's already...
