This is no joke, Ken rosenthal is reporting that 3 teams are seriously interested in Manny.

The Marlins, Rangers and Blue Jays...

You are assuming Manny will be unhappy. He and Pedro always seemed to get along, he'll be home......what's not to like? Let's not forget that Manny isn't so much the man anymore in Beantown. Ortiz has become more and more of a fan favorite of Red Sox Nation and deep down that may have rubbed Manny the wrong way.

Notice the lack of Mets, lol.

I could see them trading him to the Marlins, but I'm sure they'd prefer to keep him out of the AL.

Manny/pitching prospect/shoppach for AJB/Pierre or Encarnacion/someone else maybe? hell maybe even Luis Castillo?

Manny get's along with all the teammates, it's the management/media he doesn't get along with. Going to new york is not going to solve the media problem.

and with pedro here and manny being from washington height i think it will work,

thats a scary lineup... and their pitching is nice already

how many games have the mets lost cuz they cant score. they always lose 2-1 or 3-1 cuz they dont have that big booper to compliment the line up

and this will give beltran more fastballs so he can drive in more runs.. this is a great trade for the mets
This just proves that you don't know so much about what's going on in Baseball right now, I wouldn't trade a bag of baseballs for Patterson, he's not worth Flyod what so ever, are you isane or somthing, I think you and Buster have been hitting the bottle, Fisrt off Patterson is just having a terrible season and was beched a few weeks ago and then sent to the minors where he stunk it up, so I guess that's how much you know about baseball. And Patterson is Cenetr Fielder so there is no place on the Mets for him. And the mets are not trading Flyod and would never for Patterson in a million years.

Minaya would be Dominican management.......something I'm sure Manny could happily endure.

Yeah, I'm sure he'd love the management there, but the media's going to be just as bad there as it is here.

Teammates are sort of a wash. As is media, so the management might be the only thing better about the two situations.(The red sox lead in the standings department, but that obviously doesn't matter to Manny.)

whatever man.. first of all patterson is 24 yers old. he struggled this year but he is not garbage... floyd is having his best year in about 5 years.. he is not young anymore and he is not a great fielder.... patterson will be a nice player and he can play right field.. i would not make the trade cuz i like floyd but dont say that you will not trade for patterson for a bag of balls. go ask the yankees if they would take patterson over bernie in center field...

Yeah also ask the Yankees why they haven't traded for him, you wanna know why cause the Cubs have a great CF in the minors and they may cut Patterson any day now and bring the kid up, so there just waiting to get him, not for a bag of balls but for free.

Plus Patterson is do good right, is he not even on the ative roster and he's not even hurt

Patterson has been awful, what makes you think he will do good?

As for the trade.... Manny could make just about everyone in that lineup better. But, he is changing leagues...

Mets not the only suitors for Ramirez
                          Posted: July 29, 2005

Yes, there's a chance that the Red Sox will trade outfielder Manny Ramirez before Sunday's 4 p.m. ET non-waiver trade deadline, and the Mets are not the only possibility.

The Red Sox also are talking to the Marlins, Rangers and Blue Jays about Ramirez, industry sources say, though a three-way trade involving the Mets and Devil Rays remains the most tantalizing possibility.

That deal, which would send Ramirez to the Mets along with Devil Rays closer Danys Baez, is nowhere close to complete, sources tell The Sporting News.

"It's going to take a little time," an executive from one of the teams says. "But it's pretty legitimate."

An official from a second team adds, "It's got a ways to go. We have two days left. There's still a lot of talking to do."

A blockbuster of this magnitude faces numerous obstacles, not the least of which is Ramirez's contract, which will pay him $57 million from 2006 to '08.

Thus, the Red Sox are exploring other possibilities.

The Marlins, a team that relishes blockbuster trades, previously have discussed sending right-hander A.J. Burnett to the Sox in a deal that also might include third baseman Mike Lowell. They could revive that combination in a package for Ramirez.

The Rangers nearly acquired Ramirez for Alex Rodriguez after the 2003 season. Their general manager, John Hart, is Ramirez's former G.M. with the Indians, and Ramirez would thrive in the hitter-friendly Ballpark in Arlington.

A deal with the Blue Jays would appear far-fetched -- it is doubtful the Red Sox would trade Ramirez within their own division -- but Jays ownership has pledged to increase payroll by $210 million over the 2005, '06 and '07 seasons.

Meanwhile, the rough outline of a three-way deal between the Sox, Mets and Devil Rays already appears to be in place:

The Mets would receive Ramirez and Baez.

The Red Sox would receive Mets outfielder Mike Cameron and Devil Rays outfielder Aubrey Huff.

The Devil Rays would receive an elite package of prospects from both clubs. Among the possibilities: Mets outfielder Lastings Milledge and right-hander Yusmeiro Petit and Red Sox catcher Kelly Shoppach and left-hander Jon Lester or right-hander Anibal Sanchez.

If such a deal was completed, the Mets would become a legitimate threat to win the N.L. East and the Devil Rays' rebuilding program would accelerate rapidly.

However, the Red Sox's chances of repeating as world champions would decrease, in part because they would not receive enough of an immediate return for Ramirez, one of the game's premier hitters.

The deal also would not address the Red Sox's need for pitching, while costing them two top prospects from a farm system that is finally starting to gain strength.

Finally, major-league executives are skeptical that Devil Rays general manager Chuck LaMar would agree to a trade with so many moving parts in such a limited trade frame.

LaMar is widely considered to be the most difficult G.M. to negotiate with, setting unrealistic values on his players.

"Unless Tampa Bay gets Milledge and (top Red Sox prospect) Hanley Ramirez and Kelly Shoppach and two other pitchers, I doubt it could happen," says one G.M. who has recent discussions with LaMar.

A year ago at this time, Red Sox G.M. Theo Epstein completed a stunning four-team trade that sent shortstop Nomar Garciaparra to the Cubs and brought first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz and shortstop Orlando Cabrera to the Red Sox.

That deal helped the Sox win their first World Series since 1918. And to think, a Ramirez trade might be considered an even bigger coup.

Manny to the Marlins was seriously reported? I had just been thinking through in my head of possible trades heh. I could see something like Manny + Arroyo for Burnett, Encarnacion (who is on a hitting tear lately), and maybe Lowell? + a prospect? With Lowells salary and Burnetts expected new deal, payrolls wouldnt be that much different. The Marlins could then move Cabrera back to third and stick Conine in right.

patterson was sent down earlier this month. his OBP was like .270 this year. which is an absolute joke, especially for a leadoff hitter.

I don't want him in Fla. Don't trade for this clown!!!! If the NL had a DH I'd be all for it, but he could cost us big in the outfield.
