The Mets had a pretty solid lineup last year and look where it got them, all they've added so far is Delgado, which is a solid pick up, but is he going to make *THAT* much of a difference??? That signing screams Mo Vaughn all over again IMO. Anyways, the Mets starting pitching outside of Pedro is still relatively weak...gonna need them to really step up for either Wagner or Delgado to have a profound impact next year. The Mets are an improved club but this talking about them being favorites for anything right now is taking it too far, gotta wait and see what the other clubs do before making ridiculous predictions.

To Compare Mo Vaughn (bad signing) with Carlos Delgado is wrong. This guy has shown no signs of skills going down. He hit 30 HRs 100 RBI's the last five years. If the Braves had the money and the fans to support such a move you would not take Delgado? If you answer anything then Yes your are not being honest to yourself. Good luck this year.

I think they are better then the Braves starters. Plus your bullpen does not have a closer. Oh I forgot Danny Kolb. Wagner had a supper low ERA playing in Coors fild East. Look at the Mets Starters. Pedro, Glavine ( one of the best pitchers the second half in baseball) Benson, Seao, Trachsall. I will give you Smoltz is great after that you do have question marks. I also am a fair Met's fan and must say the Braves have been the Kings in the East. Untill the Mets do it on the field this does not mean anything. That said adding Carlos, Wagner and a good catcher will make it interesting.

Tim Hudson is a question mark? LMAO oh ok, if you say so. BOTH teams have question marks in the rotation but the Mets have more, the Braves are pretty set at the top with Smoltz, Huddy, Sosa, and Thomson (if he's not traded)...after Pedro and maybe Benson, there are a lot of questions about that Mets staff. To say they're a better overall staff than the Braves is a friggin' joke, if it was that way...they would've won the division esp. with our injuries to Hampton, Thomson AND Hudson. It'll be a different story if they go out and acquire a Vasquez or even a Zito but I guarantee you that JS is on the look out for another quality starter and it wouldn't shock me to see him deal for someone like he did for Hudson last year. Pitching wise, their only question mark is in the bullpen but I think that can be solved if they sign Trevor Hoffman and bring back Farnsworth. Schuerholz always finds a way, I'm not worried in the least.

Ugh, I wish they would get rid of Bell and Lieberthal. They make me sick.

Bell, Lieberthal, pitcher. Worst 7-8-9 in baseball and made especially bad by the fact that Bell will usually erase whoever's on base with him, leaving the pitcher to lead off after Lieby pops up for the 3rd out.

Hopefully Charlie, after 162 games, has finally realized that Bell isn't an everyday player. I'd love to see an Abraham Nunez type of guy brought it to platoon at 3B, to at least minimize the damage Bell can do this year. As far as Lieby....ugh. That salary can't come off the books fast enough.

That Polanco-for-Urbina trade looks great now, huh?

I said the Mets were behind the Cardinals as the best in the NL. The only reason I mentioned SD was because they won the NL west. Also don't compare Mo Vaughn to Carlos Delgado. Vaughn was overweight and missed the prior season. Delgado has been consistent throughout his career. One of the best Puerto Rican players of all time. Only Clemente was better. It seems any time a New York teams spends money on a big name player, all these second-city fans have a problem with it. Now I know how Yankee fans felt all these years.

Actually it's more about a large majority of NY fans being annoying beyond all belief and making ridiculous and stupid statements. I could care less if the Mets spend all the money in the world, what has it gotten them so far? That's what I thought.

When they spent money they got to the World Series. Before last year, they refused A-Rod and Vlad in a 4 year span.

And personally, last years Beltran/Pedro signings were better than Delgado/Wagner, and look how those helped the Mets. I think they'll push for the wild card, but will most likely fall short.
