But I don't think Bonds took steroids to to prolong his career, I think he took them because he was jealous of all the attention Mac and Sosa got. His thinking was he is better than both of them and it is not right for all the attention they got. This is a very egotistic man, so I can see that!

Re: More Barry Bonds steroids stuff on ESPN radio right now
Yet another book coming out (in may i believe) alleges that Bonds told Ken Griffey Jr. and two other men after the '98 season that he planned to get "hardcore" into taking performance enhancers, Bonds was apparently unhappy with all the fanfare given to McGwire, Sosa and for a short time Griffey during the '98 season while he got very little.
ESPN has stated many, many times that Ken Griffey Jr. was not the source for this information.Comment

What bad PR for him to sue over this book, considering the lawsuit is not challenging what the book is reporting on Bonds, just that the information was obtained illegally. Thats pretty much an admission of guilt if there ever was one.Comment

Re: More Barry Bonds steroids stuff on ESPN radio right now
"He said laws prohibit people from possessing grand jury materials unless they are unsealed and said authors Mark Fainaru-Wada and Lance Williams, both also reporters for the Chronicle, 'have made a complete farce of the criminal justice system.'"
That's a pretty bold statement coming from the camp of a guy who lied under oath..."Darth Vader doesn't cry, Peter."
"The guy was married to Natalie Portman and blew it. I mean, think about it."

"What we're saying is, who are the real cheaters? They are the ones who are using these illegally obtained materials," Rains said.
I guess I know now how and why Giants fans became such good spin doctors.
And I think it speaks loads that this suit is over how the material was gathered, not what it actually says. If Bonds really wanted to take a stand here against the accusations, this would be a libel suit all the way.
Correct me if I'm wrong though, but haven't all the press releases and other write-ups on the book explicitly stated that the testimony and evidence from the grand jury investigation came from documents?Comment

Re: More Barry Bonds steroids stuff on ESPN radio right now
Here is the list of different people and how they REALLY feel about all this Roids stuff in the MLB:
Owners:
Wish it never came out. They were raking in the dough from fans who were paying to see the long ball.
Commish: Since hes in the owners camp too..same thing. If all this long ball hitting and HR breaking was going on with NO roid talks at all, its a win for him.
Super Stars who dont juice:
They want it out of the game because they are so close to being as good as the "juicers" they probably would be the better player if the playing feild were leveled.
Super Stars who do juice:
They are hating life right now because so much heat is on this topic some are going to get off the juice to keep from being the next busted player..but the downside is that some of these players wouldnt be the superstars they are without it...so they are going to have to somehow deal with the "free ride" being over and being happy with a 270 BA and 28 HR a year rather than batting 320 with 48 HR a year.
Pitchers:
they are happy to get it out of the game. But to be honest..if you were a pitcher in todays "juiced player" era and you still dominated batters, winning 20+ games and keeping your ERA under 3 you are an absolute STUD cuz youre basically david whopping goliath's azz with one hand tied behind your back.
The Fans:
mixed bag here because someone in LA for example could hate bonds and been hating someone like Bonds, but if he magically showed up on THIER team's roster, some of these hating fans would change thier tune. Also as long as fans keep shelling out the bucks for tickets, hot dogs, 12 dolalr beer, jerseys, and watching it on TV baseball is gonna keep making money which means bigger contracts which means more players doing anything and everything to enchance thier performance so they can get a peice of that. it all starts wtih the fan. Without our money, baseball doesnt exist.
Players who are average players:
They want the game cleaned up so the gap between someone like Bonds and them is closed up. Also these players probably would take roids of they could know 100% for sure it was safe and 100% for sure they wouldnt get caught. Lets be HONEST here people. Most of us wont rob a bank because the consequences outweigh the risk. if there was absolutely no risk at all..alot of us, includin myself would probably be in a bank now loading up our money bags. Im just keeping it real. Yes there ARE some people out there with real true blue to the soul morals but I think that number is inflated. I think more players would juice up if there were no consequences for doing so (getting caught, getting sick, etc). And thats sad...IMO at least HALF of the players who dont juice up arent choosing not to because of morals and the love for the purity of the game..they just dont like the risk/reward ratio. You change that up..and more of these guys WOULD be on the juice.__________________________________________________ ____
