It's probably going to take Jason Hirsh, Hunter Pence, and Troy Patton to get Tejada. I don't think the Astros are THAT desperate.

The Astros are really looking for a bat. They have shown interest in Carlos Lee, Tejada, and Soriano.

I think they are really going to make a run at this with Clemens back. They brought in Preston Wilson and Aubrey Huff to help, but they need another boost.

I heard a rumor that the Orioles were interested in two of their star minor leaguers, and a combo of Bruntlett, Lamb, Bucholz, and Wandy. (Probably two of those guys)

According to Keith Law, Houston has not even been mentioned in the Soriano rumors and Tejada will hinge on whether Baltimore decides to trade him. Given their track record of taking FOREVER to make decisions, I say it's highly unlikely Miguel is dealt to anyone.

Obviously Lee had to get dealt, but this was a terrible trade. We don't need another has-been closer, we have two of those already. Nix is unused potential, Mench is above average but won't come close to filling in Lee's production. And to top it all off, we threw in one of our best outfield prospects.

            Smooth move.

I don't like giving away Cruz, but Melvin usually get's as much value as he can for players. Look at the Sexson trade.

The A's and Tigers were talking to the Brewers, but Melvin said in todays paper he was waiting for a GM to make an offer he couldn't refuse.

              I guess this was it.

That's a FAT deal to get us started and it's a really good one for the Rangers. Carlos Lee might be the most underrated player in baseball, and an offensive machine. He's really going to help out down in Texas with Teixiera's "woes".

I think this solidifies them as a contender in my eyes, seeing as how I thought they'd drop off as the season went along.

I think Texas still needs pitching to be the clear favorite but the deal definitely helps. I wonder if Lee will consider re-signing with the Rangers. I don't know their exact financial situation, but it seems like they usually have some money to spend and Lee should put up monster numbers in Texas.

Mench is very streaky and has been hitting very well for about 2 weeks now...check his recent stats.

My question for Brewers fans...do you think Cordero will close since Turnbow has had some problems?

I'm not a Brewers fan BUT I think that's clearly why Cordero was sent to the Brew Crew. You know things are bad when Kolb is closing again. Cordero was bad in the closer's role this year but everytime i've seen him as a setup man he's done pretty well for himself. Maybe he can get back to form with Milwaukee.

I like this trade for Milwaukee and I think it was a fair trade off.

As for the Rangers needing pitching....well every team needs pitching and the teams with pitching are going to ask for the moon. So the only other way to improve your team is to get a big bat.

I would agree, he gave us great power, but Prince will be putting up much better numbers in years to come.

Cordero has a 2.87 ERA since the start of May, so there's no doubt to me he'll be closing for the Brewers.

The move should help both teams stay competitive for the rest of the season. Lee will give a boost to what should already be a great offense, and Cordero hopefully will do better than Turnbow. Say what you want about giving up Lee, but his production doesn't help when the guy in the ninth can't close it out.

I don't completely understand why Melvin wants Nix, unless he sees something in him no one else does. Nix just seems like wasted talent, and with all the outfield prospects the Brewers have, it doesn't seem to make sense, unless Melvin has another trade in mind yet.
