Originally posted by JGib25Listening to WNST with some O's trade talk. Seems the O's had 2 deals completed already (no teams or players were named) but by the time Angelos could approve them the other teams had pulled the deal because of waiting on Angelos. Said that about half a dozen teams in MLB won't even talk to the O's because of Angelos.
And I don't know why the Phillies want Lopez....he's at best a fairly durable bottom of the rotation starter.Comment

There's also a rumor going around that Pat Burrell could be heading to Baltimore for Rodrigo Lopez. I guess the Phillies will eat some of his contract, and both sides feel the deal will get done despite Burrell's full no-trade clause.Comment

I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case, and I also wouldn't be surprised if Angelos vetoed the deal himself...Comment

I don't see their logic in the at all. Unless they think that more offense can offset their major pitching issues.Comment

Also, MacDougal could be a great set-up man if he can get his head on straight.Comment

Re: Official Trade Deadline Thread- Rumors, Transactions and Your Own Crazy Ideas
I really dont understand this move by the Sox. Yes we would get another great bat in the lineup, but our pitching and our future suffer for the worst. I really dont like giving up Brandon McCarthy because I really do think he can become a stud. Brian Anderson looks to be somewhat getting his swing back, but hes still not producing the same numbers as Soriano.
If we give up Javier Vasquez and/or Freddie Garcia, then I will gladly accept the trade. But if Brandon McCarthy is included in the deal, then I'm totally against it (especially sinces theres a slim chance he'll resign with us in 2007).
As for the CF problem, most likely B.Anderson and Pods will platoon the position until they can get their comfortable swings back. Soriano will take over left, with Mack giving all 3 players some days of relief.
I also think that theres a slight chance Kenny Williams will trade Soriano along with prospects to another club for a bigger name. Guess we'll see...Last edited by shugknight; 07-24-2006, 02:53 PM.Comment
