this is from Bernie Mikilus from the Post-Dispatch. I think it was in Wednesday or Thursday's paper.
As much as I like Reyes, Willis to the Cards would be a very nice move IMO. Perfect guy to go with Carpenter, it would really help to make that staff more solid. Starting pitching in STL has been ugly lately for the most part, really been letting down the team this year.

I had a feeling Angelos would screw this up for the O's. It's sad to see what the O's have become under him.

And I don't know why the Phillies want Lopez....he's at best a fairly durable bottom of the rotation starter.

There's also a rumor going around that Pat Burrell could be heading to Baltimore for Rodrigo Lopez. I guess the Phillies will eat some of his contract, and both sides feel the deal will get done despite Burrell's full no-trade clause.

Don't know if this means anything but during the Jays telecast they were talking about this potential trade and said that Burell will more then likely invoke his no-trade clause.

I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case, and I also wouldn't be surprised if Angelos vetoed the deal himself...

Why do the Sox need Soriano? They have a LF in Podsednik, who hasn't had a fantastic year, but is still a solid leadoff hitter.

I don't see their logic in the at all. Unless they think that more offense can offset their major pitching issues.

I guess Pods goes to CF.

Also, MacDougal could be a great set-up man if he can get his head on straight.

I think this is more of a move to keep the Tigers or Twins from getting him. I don't understand the logic either of getting this guy BUT keeping him from going to the contending teams is the logical explaination.

Guess it's time to put money on the White Sox, huh?

That line-up is going to be loaded.

I've heard that Sori actually WANTS to stay in DC. He's one of those players that you could build a franchise around and to me it'd be silly for the Nats to trade him unless they get a proven MLB commodity and/or prospects that are a year or two from getting to the Big Leagues.

I really dont understand this move by the Sox. Yes we would get another great bat in the lineup, but our pitching and our future suffer for the worst. I really dont like giving up Brandon McCarthy because I really do think he can become a stud. Brian Anderson looks to be somewhat getting his swing back, but hes still not producing the same numbers as Soriano.

If we give up Javier Vasquez and/or Freddie Garcia, then I will gladly accept the trade. But if Brandon McCarthy is included in the deal, then I'm totally against it (especially sinces theres a slim chance he'll resign with us in 2007).

As for the CF problem, most likely B.Anderson and Pods will platoon the position until they can get their comfortable swings back. Soriano will take over left, with Mack giving all 3 players some days of relief.

I also think that theres a slight chance Kenny Williams will trade Soriano along with prospects to another club for a bigger name. Guess we'll see...
