Buy their championships? That whole argument is a joke. How do teams sign free agents? How do teams make trades? Every team has to buy a player at one point or another, the Yankees just do it more than the others because they have an owner who is devoted to winning games. Like 60-70 mil is chump change or something? That's just cause they're owners are cheap.

I have no problems with what the Yanks are doing. They aren't breaking any rules. But it's really funny to watch this team fail so much since with all the talent they have. Anything less than a WS win is a dissapointment considering how hefty their payroll is.

Good trade by the Tigers. Sean Casey brings them a high OBP guy, which their lineup is lacking.

What's shocking is that Shelton was sent down to Toledo...I know he isn't having a good 2nd half, but it is like they have almost gave up on him for the home stretch.

Thank goodness Shelton will not be in the lineup for awhile. I am so sick of watching him take the first pitch right down the middle....fouling off pitch #2 (which was outside the strikezone) and swinging and missing horribly at pitch #3. ALL WITH GUYS ON BASE!!!

Biggest fluke ever was his April--really amazing when you look back at it.

Stupid SOSH locking down due to the heavy traffic hit from today's deadline. Any SOSH members willing to post random tidbits being thrown around?

And no, work is not getting done today.

I dont think Shelton is a bad player, but honestly he has had not just a bad 2nd half, but a bad season. The first 2 weeks were really the only times he was hitting well. He has a good Fielding % but I think sometimes lacks range. It will be good for him to go down and clear his head. He can work on his mechanics and come back in September ready to contribute. Sorta like DY now.

Lohse to the Reds for a minor league pitcher. No idea if the kid is a legit prospect.

WOW. Shelton got sent down? I remember the first 2 weeks of the season every one was hailing this guy as an MVP candiate. Now he's in the minors. Goes to show you that a few games in the season is a far cry from what's going to happen in the end.

But what's more errie is I'm playing my MLB 06 The show franchise as the White Sox and I came up on the June 6th game against the Tigers and they had some minor league guy playing first base. I checked the roster and the CPU sent down Shelton to AAA. I was skeptical on the AI roster management on this game BUT after hearing this maybe the AI on this game isn't so bad after all.

His average in July isnt too shabby (.289) but 1 HR and 9 RBI will not cut it as a 1B.

6HR and 25 RBI since April...

Hopefully, he can regain some of his confidence, work on his swing, and be a contributor down the stretch. It will be interesting to see if this Nats-Marlins-Tigers rumor for Soriano has any legs to it once we get to the deadline.

ESPN.com Message boards has a rumor swirling around that a radio station, EEI, (not sure if they just missed the W for WEEI) reported that the Braves offered Andruw Jones to the BoSox for Coco Crisp, Jon Lester, and Craig Hansen. It was immediately rejected.

Wow. Sorry no way I would trade Andruw right now. I know we get back a future closer, a good starting prospect and a decent OFer who can lead off, but Andruw is the Braves.
