No word yet, but I'm pretty sure Wickman will still close.

Well, the deal with LA is better than trading Betemit straight up for Proctor, but not by a whole lot.

Not really. The only way the Braves were going to get bullpen help was by trading Betemit and at least this way they get a player (Aybar) who can play all the same positions.

The acquisition of Betemit insures that the Dodgers will probably trade Cesar Izturis. Izturis is rumored to part of a package for Miguel Tejada and also is rumored as a possibility for his former team the Blue Jays if Julio Lugo re-signs with the Devil Rays in the next couple of days.

Eh, I still think its questionable.

Wilson is young, very versatile, and has proven that he can play very well.

Baez isn't that great. He had one really good year for TB, and thats about it. And this Aybar kid might be versatile but he isn't the player Betemit is. But I guess he is young.

Well consider this if it helps: Willy Aybar has 307 career AB's and has 7 HR's and 53 RBI's, in Wilson Betemit's first 307 AB's he had 4 HR's and 26 RBI's. Aybar is 2 years younger and is ahead of where Betemit was offensively at this point in his career.

I like Aybar, I'm just not really a fan of Baez. Seems like a lateral move at best to me...

Anyways, the Bell trade is official, David Bell is a Brewer. I didn't catch who's being sent to Philly yet...
Brewers fans will know more than I would, but does trading for Bell mean the Brewers will be looking to deal Bill Hall now? I know the Twins are said to extremely iterested in him.

I don't think so. Koskie's out for at least another month(possibly the season) and Weeks is likely headed to the DL, so Bell was brought in to fill a hole in their depleted infield.

                          Koskie is injured....how surprising....NOT!

Anywho, I really like how the Brewers are being proactive and it really looks like they're gearing up for a big '07 campaign.

Lol I know. As much as I admired him for his hard play and stellar defense, I nicknamed Koskie the Mangina for always getting hurt. Since he has left, Shannon Stewart has taken that title.

Looks like that trade the brewers did to get bell just clears room for the padres to make a trade with them for Bill Hall. Geez Padres are the only ones that continue to just sit back and watch the other teams make moves.

Considering Bell's contract comes off the books after this season, and considering he was the 2nd-best 3B on the market behind Betemit, and considering the lousy middle relief "prospect" we got in this deal will never see the city of Philadelphia....yeah, this trade sucks.

The fire sale is coming. And despite the fact that he should be trading valuable players to contending teams from a position of strength, I'm sure Pat Gillick will find a way to receive 50 cents on the dollar for every player he trades before this deadline.
