It looks like a Miguel Tejada to the Angels deal is very very close to being done. Apparently Ervin Santana is going to be a part of the deal, along with either Erick Aybar or Brandon Wood, another prospect, and another player now on the 25 man roster.

No way Hall is going anywhere. The guy is only 26, and can start anywhere in the infield or CF. With Lee gone, he now leads in the team in HR, and becomes our new cleanup hitter. He is pretty much close to untouchable.Comment

Re: Official Trade Deadline Thread- Rumors, Transactions and Your Own Crazy Ideas
Just watched Ken Rosenthal on FOX....
Angels and Astros are both posturing for Tejada. Texas also in the mix. Angels are offering Ervin Santana and Erick Aybar, Astros is offering major league level guys (Everett/Ensberg) to go with top prospect Fernando Nieves. The Rangers' package will center around Hank Blalock.
He feels Soriano will definitely be moved, Rosenthal thinks that the best thing that could've happened for Bowden was Lee being traded early. He feels it will drive up Soriano's price and ultimately Alfonso will be moved.
Betemit will play 3B for LA, Izturis moving to 2B with Kent going on the DL. Izturis could also be sent to Toronto.
Lastings Milledge would net NYM Barry Zito. Rosenthal thinks they will do it based purely on Zito putting them over the top for a WS.
Cardinals trying to get Ronnie Belliard.
Corey Lidle and Bobby Abreu could be dumped on NYY.
Lidle or John Leiber could be traded to Texas.
Lugo will be moved if he doesn't sign an extension.Comment

Re: Official Trade Deadline Thread- Rumors, Transactions and Your Own Crazy Ideas
I dont think the Mets will trade Milledge for Zito. Consider this:
-Zito just hired Scott Boras so he'll be tough to resign at the end of the year.
- Mets fans are still shellshocked from the Kazmir for Zambrano deal
- A potential superstar for a guy who may only start 1 game in the playoffs if they have an early exit.
-Pedro,Glavine, El Duque/Trachsel/Pelfrey will probably be strong enough to get them deep in the playoffs.
The only way I can see this happening is if the Mets arent happy with Milledge's behavior which I've heard might be the case.

Re: Official Trade Deadline Thread- Rumors, Transactions and Your Own Crazy Ideas
No rumours from me but an observation. Don't you guys think Billy Beane may be glad that he can get suitors for Zito. Seems the last 2 "aces" from Oakland have struggled to say the least elsewhere. The same could very well happen to any team that picks up Zito.
In fact if the A's are able to swing that Mets deal and get Milledge then I think that's pretty much a straight up steal IMO. Especially if the Mets don't win the WS.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Official Trade Deadline Thread- Rumors, Transactions and Your Own Crazy Ideas
Zito has never been a great postseason pitcher, and other than his 2002 season he has never been a true ace. Going to the NL might give him some success in the short-term, but I just don't think much of Barry Zito. If Beane can get Milledge and Heilman for him then thats a great trade.Comment
