Nah, the Red Sox only have a good record right now because they got to beat up on the inferior NL East. They're only a handful of games over .500 against the AL.Comment

Re: To all Mets Haters................
Baseball this year is tough to gage. I think the Mets have as good as a shot as anyone at winning it all. They have an awesome lineup - above average defense. Starting pitching is somewhat suspect, but I think Martinez, Glavine, Trachel, El Duque can get it done in the post season. Heilman is a nice setup man, Wagner is one of the best in the game (although he's slipped a little this year). They're going to miss Sanchez.
I'm not saying that they'll win it, or that they're even the favorites, but I see no reason on why it would be a shock if they won it. If someone else can give me an "x y z" position by position analysis, I'd like to see it. I agree with the all star game and interleague records shows that the AL as a whole is superior to the NL. But this is just about two teams.Comment

Re: To all Mets Haters................
You could've added the Twins and A's as well.
The Mets had a great season, and with that a nucleus of Wright, Beltran, Delgado, and Reyes, it doesn't look like they're going away anytime soon. I just hope they don't rely on Pedro being a number one again next year. He's proven recently that he's going to have at least one lenghty stint on the DL per season.Comment

Re: To all Mets Haters................
I look forward to the NL East in 2007. Hopefully, the Braves can bounce back from their horrific season, and the Mets will do much of the same that they did this year.
New York obviously has a lot going for them, and it'll be interesting to see how they do without Pedro during the regular season. After tonight, however, I have no doubt Oliver Perez can step in and contribute in that rotation.
The afore mentioned nucleus of Wright, Beltran, Delgado, and Reyes should be fun to watch again next season. In particular, though, I'm really excited to watch Jose play again. At only 23, I think he has an MVP like season in him pretty soon. He played his *** off this year.Comment

Re: To all Mets Haters................
The Braves are a third or fourth place team next year. The only team that can remotely challenge the Mets is the Phillies as I see the Marlins taking a step back with the manager change.Comment

LOL...Last night is the reason threads like this one shouldn't be created. Never get cocky along the ride or you'll find yourself on the side of the highway crying.
Still, great season for the Mets. You can't knock the nucleus they have. Hopefully my Phils will do something this offseason to improve............hopefully. Maybe. Ah hell, who are we kidding.Comment
