I didn't realize it but tomorrow's the anniversary of said trade:

Blue Jays get: 2B Roberto Alomar and OF Joe Carter

Padres get: SS Tony Fernandez and 1B Fred McGriff

Rangers bring back Padilla at a completely idiotic price, 3 years 34 mil wow.

If Padilla gets that Suppan will easily top 12 mil per year.

Might as well. There's really no offensive player out there worth signing with the $30 million payroll room left.

The Padres offseason really took a turn for the worst once Tampa Bay won the bidding for Iwamura. Tampa freakin' Bay!

I'm also glad however they got outbidded for Igawa, $10 million? Jeez.

Would've loved them to get Soriano especially with Barfield gone, but I really think Kouzmanoff should exceed that of Barfield although we created one hole in the team while plugging one.

With what's left, I would prefer the Padres just go and shore up the rest of rotation (very underrated IMO if they can sign Maddux and another starter this offseason, Jake Peavy, Chris Young, and Clay Hensley should be solid given if Peavy rebounds.

So far a rotation of Peavy, Young, Maddux, Hensley, and someone else sounds pretty good, but this offense on the other hand...

I think it's worse that Gary Matthews Jr. is getting more money than Brian Giles per year, not to mention at five years.

Then Eaton getting such a ridiculous contract for guy who has only been good for three months. $24 million+? Jeez.

I'm not a fan of Adam getting traded. I hope it doesn't happen. I think once he gets more consistency, we'll see more of 2006 Adam than 2005-and-before Adam.
