Re: Winter Meetings thread
I think they should go back to the Angels and see if they would give Santana and Figgins for 'Roche and Giles, along with a prospect.Comment

Re: Winter Meetings thread
I know a team can never have enough good bullpen arms, but I can't understand why the Braves would acquire both Rafael Soriano AND Mike Gonzalez, on top of having Bob Wickman around as closer.
Why would Gonzalez be content as a LOOGY/set-up guy when he has a closers job with the Pirates? I can understand getting Soriano here, but Gonzalez is a bit of a head scratcher.
Also: If the Soriano for Horacio Ramirez really is true, then, just wow. Bill Bavasi and the entire Seattle front office are unequivocally brain dead ********. That is a simply dreadful trade. Horacio F'n Ramirez??!Comment

Re: Winter Meetings thread
It just can't be true...it's too awful. I know Soriano isn't Francisco Rodriguez or anything (he has been injured quite a bit), but Horacio Ramirez is just terrible.
I find it very difficult to believe that if Seattle sent an e-mail blast to every team in baseball saying "give us your best offer on Rafael Soriano", that SOME team wouldn't make a better offer.Comment

Re: Winter Meetings thread
The Braves, trying to complete their longstanding quest for a setup man, are discussing a trade of left-hander Horacio Ramirez to the Mariners for right-hander Rafael Soriano, FOXSports.com has learned.
Soriano, 27, went 1-2 last season with a 2.25 ERA in 60 innings. He appeared in only seven games the year before after undergoing elbow-ligament transplant surgery on April 1.
With the Braves, Soriano would set up for closer Bob Wickman, whom the team re-signed as a free agent.
Ramirez, 27, would be a candidate for the Mariners' rotation. The Mariners have been seeking to add two starting pitchers this off-season.Comment
