bonds may have been a liability in lf the first half of the season but in the last two months he wasn't moving half bad out there, definately better than some leftfielders saw last yr.

We must have been watching different players then. He was a liability.

funny how when a pitcher doesn't sign with your team he all of a sudden becomes a bum, lol.

My team was never in the mix for him. I don't see anyone calling him a bum. Just not an $126 Million pitcher.

Good. There were rumors that if the Yankees are able to trade Randy Johnson they would go after Zito. Glad that's not an option. He's a good middle of the rotation pitcher, but not worth even close to the contract he got.

I think Zito will surprise a lot of people this year. He will have a big year. Book it.

                    I love saying book it.

jeez, those three things might be the three most overrated stats for pitchers.

i look much more into whip, g/f (for park factors only), and k/9. but that might be just me.

Well, wins is never overrated. That's the whole point, is to get wins. How you acquire them is another story though.

the giants would have needed to pony up close to what there paying zito to keep schmidt for the 3 yrs. he signed with la, in 3 yrs schmidt will be 37 and in 7 yrs zito will be 36, its definately a lot of money but zito's never missed a start in his career from injury and who's to say what an ELITE pitcher of his caliber will command next yr.

Peavy was never the same after the WBC. IF you look at the last 3 years though, Peavy matches up with Zito pretty well. I'll take Peavy, not to mention, he's younger and not costing us $126M.
