Re: Rollins NL MVP
I'm sorry, but anyone who thinks Rollins shouldn't have won is a bloody fool. When your leadoff man can hit 30 homeruns, drive in 94 RBI's, steal 41 bases, lead the league in triples, lead the league in runs scored, maintain an almost .300 average with over 700 plate appearances, and put up over 200 hits?
Remarkable achievement, well worth the contract extension.Cameras or guns, one of them is gonna shoot me to death.Comment

Re: Rollins NL MVP
Holliday was awesome this season. And yes, he was damn good on the road, I apologize. But Coors Field really helped his stats. Any other year, he's the MVP.Comment

Re: Rollins NL MVP
You're too kind. Over 2/3's of his homers are @ Coors. His BA is 70 points lower on the road. Slug % 237 pts lower. He's a slightly above average offensive player outside of Colorado. I'll give him credit for being a good RBI man wherever he is.Originally posted by VP Richard M. Re: Rollins NL MVP
All I got to say is, Barry Bonds won it like 5 times on the west coast, and take a look at the HOME/AWAY splits. Holliday stinks anywere outside of Coors.Last edited by gta95; 11-20-2007, 07:35 PM.Eagles, 76ers, Phillies, Arsenal FC, Wildcats, Vols

Re: Rollins NL MVP
Personally i'd have given it to Holliday. I guess the defense argument that some commentators talked about may have been the factor as it IS harder to be a standout SS then LF.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Rollins NL MVP
I don't really have a problem with Rollins winning it over Holliday. Holliday has better numbers, but that is inflated by Coors field. Neither are the best player in the NL though. I personally think Pujols, Hanley Ramirez, or Wright should have won over either of them.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Rollins NL MVP
Like I said, I give Matt credit for being a clutch RBI guy. His numbers & his play in the postseason proved that to me. But his all around stats, particularly his power numbers, are Coors aided.Originally posted by VP Richard M. Re: Rollins NL MVP
Rollins still put up the same numbers outside Citizens that he did in it. I don't expect Holliday to hit outside Coors the same way he does in the thin air. But the drop off shouldn't be astronomical. The splits w/Rollins are negligible. He's the same effective, productive player.

He hit 12 HR on the road and 18 at home. Sure it is only 6 more HR's, but he definitely hit more Hrs at home.
I am happy for Jimmy he is nice young man and I coached against him and his highschool team, so I am happy he won, but I still think Matt had a better year.Comment
