Re: Rollins NL MVP
Holliday had 11 of his 36 on the road, 31%. Roliins 12 of 30, 40%. JR had the same amount of RBI, just 7 points lower on his BA & less than 50 pts lower on his slug %. Just think, from the leadoff spot, JR had just 8 fewer RBI than Holliday on the road.Last edited by J0nnD0ugh; 11-20-2007, 07:34 PM.Originally posted by VP Richard M. Re: Rollins NL MVP
I don't really have a problem with Rollins winning it over Holliday. Holliday has better numbers, but that is inflated by Coors field. Neither are the best player in the NL though. I personally think Pujols, Hanley Ramirez, or Wright should have won over either of them.Eagles, 76ers, Phillies, Arsenal FC, Wildcats, Vols

Re: Rollins NL MVP
Really Jimmy should have hit over 320 with that line up. He would get mostly fast balls, because they don't want to walk him. It is the same thing that happen to Richie from my Giants. When he got moved in the batting order to bat before Bonds in 2002, he had a career year. The same thing for Rollins with having Utly and Howard.Comment

Re: Rollins NL MVP
I disagree with this, though it isn't nearly as bad as the AL last year.
You could make a legitimate case for (in no particular order) Holliday, Pujols, Wright, Utley, Ramirez, and C. Jones over Rollins though.
Plus a lot of people focusing on Holliday's splits seem to forget that there are some big pitcher's parks in his division, not to mention the three best pitchers in the National League. Rollins got to feast on junk from Marlins and Nationals pitchers.Comment

Re: Rollins NL MVP
Anyways, Rollins and Holliday were both deserving. I personally thought Holliday was slightly better, but after seeing the splits, I guess it's pretty much even. However, Rollins stats coming from the leadoff position are amazing, so it's a good choice either way you cut it.Comment

Re: Rollins NL MVP
Why does EVERY pro team need fans that embarass the rest of the fans of said team by acting like a moron? $10 says if Holliday won, you would not be anywhere near this thread.

Sike nah, suck it up sugartits...I'm sorry your boy Holliday didnt win. Them the breaks.
And who the hell would vote for Hanley Ramirez? He's the worst defensive SS in the NL. Go kick rocks on that suggestion.Comment

Re: Rollins NL MVP
Do you know how many unearned runs were scored because of those 13 extra errors? Do you know how many extra pitches the hurlers had to throw to make up for the extra outs? You can't just look @ 25/13 & say the number itself measures the impact.Originally posted by VP Richard M. Re: Rollins NL MVP
It isn't just the errors with Hanley, he's among the worst in the league at getting to balls in the first place. So not only does he get to significantly fewer balls than other shortstops, but he commits a large number of errors on the ones he does get to.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment
