Re: Don't be surprised if Johan Santana is a Yankee before the season gets underway.

If this rumored trade package is sufficient to wow the Twins, the Red Sox would get my respect. Not only that, but I expect them to win a championship sometime between these next three years. They done it every time, dating back to late 2003 when they first acquired Curt Schilling, which you must remember - they were bidding against the Yanks for the most part, and they done it once again after they acquired their current ace, Josh Beckett.

If Santana joins the club, another year of hoisting the WS trophy and more man-hugs and crotch-grabbing are going to be witnessed on National Television. I have always wondered how Boston keeps outwitting our FO, especially when the Yankees always were asked for more talent, and to the Yankees credit, they were willing to part with talent as long as it was a reasonable request.
For instance, the last time that both Cashman/Steinbrenner and Theo Epstein were dueling to put together a package good enough for Curt Shilling, Arizona's GM Joe Garagiola Jr. turned down our offer, which I always believed was much better than that of the Boston brass, to accept more "prospects" from Boston. To this day I wonder why does everyone keep expecting Yankees to meet the ridiculous demands of opposing team's that are interested in doing business. Either they're morons or they have an agenda or grudge, like since we have loot we supposed to bend down for others.

Just looking back on that trade, Arizona turned down Nick Johnson and others (whom I forget at the moment, but I know I heard Soriano's name too LOL!) for the scrubs like Casey Fossum (Didn't know what the hell they were thinking to include him as one of the main "headliners" of the trade), Jorge Da La Rosa (which Boston fans were telling me he's destined to be an ace! pfft), Michael Goss (which is best known for Adult Books ), and Brandon Lyon (who's the only player left on the Arizona ballclub from that entire package, and even he's nothing special.)

So you tell me, how should I feel? If the Twins are actually this stupid, or just have an agenda against the Yanks, b/c God knows our record vs them is hovering over .900, I think they should accept Boston's lesser offer.
As for Yankees fans, just adapt, and adopt a new mentality. It's us vs the world. Screw everybody, screw the league, just go out shopping next year, and the next year, and years after. Show absolutely no mercy to the rest of the league. To the MLB fans, tell me how you would like it then? You wanna talk about fair? We tried being fair, we already tried that, but now it's too late for that. As a Yankees fan, I would do everything within a fan's power to fund and support the team and the organization.

EDIT: I didn't mean we included Alfonso Soriano in the trade package, but I know I heard his name thrown around throughout that entire time. Just imagine, the player that fetched us Arod all by himself, was asked to be included with Nick just so we can have the 37/38 yo pitcher. hahaha

ROFL!!!! That post made my day, thank you. A Yankee fan complaining that people are against them, what a shocker! You guys keep on showing no mercy in Free Agency, and continue to not win championships.

If that's all you picked up from my post, you need to either have your eyes checked our or learn to not skim, but actually read the entire piece before you comment on the final words. There's more to what I said than what you read in the conclusion.

No, your entire thing was about teams having an agenda against you. First the Diamondbacks, and now the Twins. The D-Backs were NOT on good terms with the Yanks FO at ALL when that trade went down. I forget what the instance was, but the Yankees really PO'd that team. This time, the Red Sox offer is the more COMPLETE offer for what they need.

          A Major League ready SP
          A Major League ready CF
A 3B/SS/2B that could start the year on the ML roster(they need infielders)
A 22 year old SP that is a year or two away from the Majors with Boston. Could be in the show this season with Minni.
A 19 year old OF prospect with good peripherals.

LOL, ok if you say so. Have any of you Red Sox kids on here actually went to the Twins message board and read what people in Minnesota thinks? This deal REEKS. They want the Yankees offer(their fans). No one thinks this trash dump of a trade is worth anything except delusional Sox fans. Major League ready? Todd Van Poppel was major league ready too at one point in his career. Lester is a #3 at BEST. Boston wants nothing more than to dump Crisp, who sucks.

LMAO at the Yankees fans on here. I agree that the Yankees trade offer included a player that has better star potential, but it seems the Red Sox offer is more complete. Neither do too much for me, but I would prefer the Yankees' offer I think. However, you can't get all pissed off at the Twins, as the Yankees f'ed themselves over by creating that stupid deadline and trying to bully Bill Smith into a deal. If Hank didn't create his deadline, I think this deal would be done by now. Who knows though? It is great watching some of the reactions on here though.

When the smoke clears, it will be the Yankees who land him. Boston's offer would be taken by now if it was so great of an offer. The Yanks will cave and give another top prospect, they have to at this point to keep him away from Boston. I dont want them to, but they will.

Melky in no way qualfies as a "very good bat".

Maybe I'm wrong. They may really be done with Johan. Check this out. The Twins ACCEPTED this deal, but Cashman said no. I didnt know this.

We (any fans capable of a little analysis) don't want either deal. Hughes is great, but Melky + dung blows significant chunks.

The Boston "package" is better, but has a severe lack of a top flight player (a must have IMHO).

According to SC, and we all know how reliable they can be, it's down to the Red Sox or keeping him for the season and letting him go to FA after the season (or trade him during the season).

Just pointing out that, while everyone seems to think the Yanks are going to get him, the Red Sox are the only team scheduled to meet with the Twins again.
