If this rumored trade package is sufficient to wow the Twins, the Red Sox would get my respect. Not only that, but I expect them to win a championship sometime between these next three years. They done it every time, dating back to late 2003 when they first acquired Curt Schilling, which you must remember - they were bidding against the Yanks for the most part, and they done it once again after they acquired their current ace, Josh Beckett.
If Santana joins the club, another year of hoisting the WS trophy and more man-hugs and crotch-grabbing are going to be witnessed on National Television. I have always wondered how Boston keeps outwitting our FO, especially when the Yankees always were asked for more talent, and to the Yankees credit, they were willing to part with talent as long as it was a reasonable request.
For instance, the last time that both Cashman/Steinbrenner and Theo Epstein were dueling to put together a package good enough for Curt Shilling, Arizona's GM Joe Garagiola Jr. turned down our offer, which I always believed was much better than that of the Boston brass, to accept more "prospects" from Boston. To this day I wonder why does everyone keep expecting Yankees to meet the ridiculous demands of opposing team's that are interested in doing business. Either they're morons or they have an agenda or grudge, like since we have loot we supposed to bend down for others.
Just looking back on that trade, Arizona turned down Nick Johnson and others (whom I forget at the moment, but I know I heard Soriano's name too LOL!) for the scrubs like Casey Fossum (Didn't know what the hell they were thinking to include him as one of the main "headliners" of the trade), Jorge Da La Rosa (which Boston fans were telling me he's destined to be an ace! pfft), Michael Goss (which is best known for Adult Books

So you tell me, how should I feel? If the Twins are actually this stupid, or just have an agenda against the Yanks, b/c God knows our record vs them is hovering over .900, I think they should accept Boston's lesser offer.
As for Yankees fans, just adapt, and adopt a new mentality. It's us vs the world. Screw everybody, screw the league, just go out shopping next year, and the next year, and years after. Show absolutely no mercy to the rest of the league. To the MLB fans, tell me how you would like it then? You wanna talk about fair? We tried being fair, we already tried that, but now it's too late for that. As a Yankees fan, I would do everything within a fan's power to fund and support the team and the organization.
EDIT: I didn't mean we included Alfonso Soriano in the trade package, but I know I heard his name thrown around throughout that entire time. Just imagine, the player that fetched us Arod all by himself, was asked to be included with Nick just so we can have the 37/38 yo pitcher. hahaha
