If the Twins accepted that deal - I'd be amazingly excited.

Shooter is a tool, he's almost as ignorant has his cohort who wants the Twins to trade Silva.

He's the same guy who wrote that we would replace Hunter via trade, free agency or an in-house candidate. I forgot his name.

That trade off is pathetic. I hate that no rumors have included a legit bat.

If I'm the Twins I don't trade Santana for anything less than at least 2 PROVEN players. I hate how the Yanks and Sox are throwing around these prospects like they mean something? WHY? Just because they come from media favorites farm systems does not mean these guys are the second coming... Coco Crisp as the main part of a Santana deal? Are you kidding me? If I'm the GM, it's show me the goods, or don't waste my time.

Are the Yankees offering Hughes/Cabrera/Prospect or Kennedy/Cabrera/Prospect because I think if they offered Hughes the Twins would have accepted it by now.

Well the Twins would get two everyday players in Lowrie (ss and the sox best position player prospect) and Crisp (cf). They have a 2-3 starter in Lester and they get Masterson (second best pitching in the red sox farm prospect outside of Clay).

In the end I think the Sox offer this hoping the Twins would want or make the Yankees give up more.

Don't know how they are just the media's favorite farm systems. The media likes good farm systems. A few years ago the Yankees were consistently being rated as one of the worst farm systems in baseball.

That's a great attitude to have if it's possible, but it's not. If the Twins feel they aren't going to be able to resign him, the right move is to trade him, as long as they get an offer that they feel is better than the compensation draft picks they would get next year.

I'm starting to believe Mets fans now. They were all hammering Omar Minaya has promised to acquire Johan Santana, and the only thing that was stopping them was their reluctance to include Reyes. Now that I'm hearing Jose Reyes might be included, I pretty much expect Johan in NY. If not in Bronx, then in Queens. Heilman/Milledge/Reyes should do it.

Sorry, I just feel that any decent prospect that comes out of the Yanks or Sox farm system is named the next great thing just cause they came from their farm system... Kevin Maas anyone?

But you're right, it would be much better for the Twins to get near ready prospects than a sandwich 1st round pick this year that may not pan out or even sign with your team. I just think Santana has more value than Coco Crisp and Jon Lester.

Edit: Now the Mets deal is something I'd be interested in... Reyes and Heilmen have proven their worth in the MLB... like I said, I would want two proven guys and the Mets give that with a prospect to boot in Milledge.

Maas was never a hot prospect, he came out of nowhere and had a good season-and-a-half in his mid-20's.

Wow. He is not worth more than that. He plays once every 5 days. Not worth what your giving up and all the money if your the Yankees.

I'd definitely be OK with that trade. Reyes has proven he's a top SS, Milledge is one of the better OF prospect, and Heilman seems like a good young pitcher. If the Twins were to lose Santana, I wouldn't mind that deal one bit. They'd get their third OF, improve the IF, and have a decent guy to plug into the rotation. I assume they would then move Brendan Harris to 3B.

Probably just a rumer, but sounds like fair compensation and the best rumored trade so far. I don't know how much water it holds though, what's the source?

According to baseball-reference.com he jumped around from minor league team to minor league team from 1993 to 1997 being on affiliats of NYY, SD, CIN, MIL, and HOU putting up OK numbers thru 1996. Spent time in the majors with the Twins in 1995.
