the Rangers have that philosophy. The Yankees dont. That is why the Yankees win, and the Rangers dont.

the Yankees have been among the top 10 in ERA every season since 2001. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/...ching&type=reg

You know, when you say it like that it makes me think that Rafael Palmeiro didn't deserve to win the Gold Glove at 1B for the AL in 1999 .

I agree with you with Blalock...but Young? a 4 time All-Star including All Star MVP overrated? I guessing hitting .315 last year was bad too...

Did something happen that I'm not aware about which invalidated the 2007, 2006, 2005, and 2004 seasons? Or do you not know what "every season since 2001 means"? Or do you just like making stuff up?

For people interested in the actual stats and not stuff ZB9 pulled out of his ***, the Yankees were 17th overall in ERA in 2007, 12th in 2006, 22nd in 2005, and 19th in 2004. Yet they still made the playoffs by ranking 1st, 1st, 2nd, and 2nd overall in runs scored in those respective years.

lol my mistake. (doesnt happen very often, yea right)

You win. You are the stat guru. I guess that settles it. The NY Yankess have not been good at defense and pitching in the "Jeter era" (if you believe that, then you dont know baseball 101. I dont care what metrics you look at)

they would not have won 4 world series and a crapload of divison titles if they werent one of the better defensive teams in those years...and they wouldnt be a good defensive team if Jeter was a "poor defender".

                    baseball 101 > stat guru

Since you can't even get checkable facts right, why would people believe your made-up speculation and observations?

btw, did i get the 4 world series championships right? did i get that stat right? You think they were a bad defensive team in those years?

You've played for the Yankees? No wonder you have such inside knowledge and how awesome their pitching and defense is even though the stats say otherwise.

                          Got me there.

needless to say, he shouldnt have won a gold glove when he was basically a DH that year.

you are the one that ranked a "poor" defensive shortstop at #2 in the league.

if he was a "poor" defensive shortstop, then he certainly should not be rated so high. Anyone who knows anything about the game should agree that the shortstop position is the most important defensive position on the field, and you cannot win with a "poor" defensive shortstop.

You can keep your "metrics". You might win your fantasy league but that doesnt mean you know everything about the game

If I had a team that scored 100 more runs more than any other team in the league, I could win with Hanley Ramirez as shortstop. Or Derek Jeter.

I don't see why it is so hard to see that the Yankees offense is good enough score more runs than everyone else each season, and that's why they win games. Ask any Yankees fan here if they've have great pitching the past couple seasons. They'll say no. Yet somehow they've still managed to win and make the playoffs. I guess they just don't know their own team.
