I'm starting to think this organization likes to **** with the fan base. It's actually getting to a point where I'm actually starting to despise this team.
As someone who supported them the past 10 years, I quit being a fan after this year's playoffs.

    They can blow themselves.

It'll be a close call, but I think the Cubs will grab him late.

        DeRosa is right-handed...

If I were the cubs, I would try to see if Hoffpauir can develop a little defense and use him to spell Soriano and RF (Fukudome?) and occasionally Lee. The team may not need to shop for lefties. This would also allow them to keep Pie on the roster again, to see if his bat grows ever so slightly into his speed and defense. Those two themselves might be worth having him on the bench while Reed Johnson plays center, possible w/ Fukudome.

Rather than sign Johnson (I don't know whether I would prefer Sheets), they should make sure the pen is going to be ok. Marmol is the only known commodity, and he has been used a ton over the past 2 seasons. Gregg is an unknown for the team, so is Samardzija (who is/was supposedly to be a starter eventually). No Wood, Howry is gone...that leaves Gaudin, Kevin Hart, and .... I don't know who. Marquis is not a bad fifth starter to have.

          Felix Pie=Gary Scott

Sorry but Pie (who I saw quite a bit when he was with the Iowa Cubs) isn't going to pan out so those who believe he will.........pass the kool-aid.

Re: Where Will Jake Peavy Land?

According to mlb.com’s Lyle Spencer the Padres are seeking infielder Brandon Wood and pitchers Nick Adenhart and Kevin Jepsen for Peavy.

Peavy must still approve any trade and has expressed his preference to stay in the National League. But prolonged trade talks with the Chicago Cubs this past week and Atlanta Braves earlier produced no results.

Peavy’s agent Barry Axelrod told Jon Heyman the pitcher is frustrated by the Padres’ inability to move him.

The Cubs, Braves, Dodgers, Astros and Cardinals were the five teams on a preferred list Axelrod provided to the Padres. He said Peavy isn’t doing any more lists.

And, apparently, the Angels are only interested in obtaining Peavy if they fail to re-sign their No. 1 priority, first baseman Mark Teixeira — so Peavy has replaced CC Sabathia in that regard.

I agree. I have just given up on Pie. The guy just can't hit at the big league level.

Re: Where Will Jake Peavy Land?

With Moores official announcement of selling the team, and the mess that was the Peavy sweepstakes, I really hope this won't affect his performance next year if he does stay in SD. I know I'd be pretty pissed if I sat around for a month wondering what my fate was going to be after being one of the few bright spots on a dismal team.
