I'd take the Dodger killer in a second. But what is it going to cost? I wouldn't send Kershaw or Bills to S.D. No way. I wouldn't mind McDonald and Kemp and even that would hurt, im big on Mr Swagga Man Matt Kemp.

Imagine, Manny stays and Pevy comes in? or CC and Pevy come in? OMG.

Well, Peavy has apparently opened up his options...

Towers confirmed the seven teams -- the Cubs, Cardinals, Dodgers, Astros, Braves, Angels and Yankees -- that Peavy would consider waiving his no-trade clause to join, but added that Peavy's preference is to go to a National League team.

      Link
I PRAY that if Peavy has to leave, he goes to ANY team besides the Yankees. I'll instantly hate him if he takes the mound in pinstripes.

Well, maybe hate is too strong a word, but I would definitely cry a little bit...

I really think the Dodgers could bring in the Dodger Killer. Matt Kemp and McDonald, wouldn't trade Kershaw though. That's probably what they will ask in return.

Personally, I don't see how they'd get him without Kershaw. The Orioles were the same way with Bedard negotiations last year.

To trade him to a rival team, they would ask for a lot more in return than they would if they were trading him to a team like the Yankees (different league, different coast, less chance of him getting constant payback). Kemp, McDonald, and Kershaw would be nice, but they would ask for more.

Then again, we are talking about the Padres FO, so maybe they would just ask for a couple of bats and a new rosin bag...

They can get him without Kershaw because the Padres have reportedly asked for Kershaw or Chad Billingsly. I believe the Dodgers will be willing to part with Billingsly if they havo to.

Re: Where Will Jake Peavy Land?

Looks like the Yankees are out of the running.

San Diego GM Kevin Towers spoke to a small group of writers on his way out of the St. Regis.

He said that the Jake Peavy trade talks have progressed to a point where the pitcher has been told he’s going to be traded, it’s just a matter of when a deal is struck.

“That train has left the station,” Tower said.
Towers also revealed that he is dealing with three teams, all in the National League. He mentioned the possibility of Peavy moving as part of a multi-team trade.

The Padres are known to be dealing with the Braves and Cubs. The third team could be the Cardinals or Astros. The Yankees are not in the mix.

“It’s been narrowed down for quite a while and there have been no additions,” Towers said.

Re: Where Will Jake Peavy Land?

Just to add, the Padres are willing to get shafted just to trade Jake Peavy away, or so according to some rumors of the players the Padres are getting in return. Right, so you have a Cy Young-caliber ace and the best you can come up with is a major league shortstop and two throw ins. Good luck selling that to the fan base Sandy!

Sounds like something the Dodgers should pay attention to.

Can someone explain for me why the Padres feel they "have" to trade Peavy? Did he demand a trade? The Pads are in rebuild mode and a 27 year old stud signed for several years sounds like a great place to start, so why the hurry to get rid of him?

Look at the Padres FO history, and you'll see a LOT of talent that you could put in Peavy's place to make that same argument. Basically, this is the same thing that always happens. Watch. Now that Gonzalez has earned a Gold Glove, he'll be on the block next offseason.

Because they have no commitment to winning. They got us to pay for that stadium, and now they just want to collect money.

This was not the bill of goods The Padres sold us in November of 1998.

                                Exactly.

And it's funny how I get the feeling that they are trying to paint Peavy as the bad guy. All they (the front office) have done has been to push people they don't like outside for having an opinion (see Bruce Bochy for not agreeing on certain lineup decisions, hence him becoming a lame duck and ultimately being replaced by someone else, or Wally Joyner this past season, leaving midseason because of differences in hitting philosophy, and now Peavy for obviously questioning the front office's commitment to winning, or lack thereof). This team should be retooling, not rebuilding, but of course they don't want to spend any money or make the right moves.

I don't care what team Peavy is traded to, I'm moving on past this stupid team. They say one thing yet they **** out something else.

To be honest I hate all these rumored trade proposals, but the Padres set themselves up for it. Mishandled, as usual.
