Re: Where Will Jake Peavy Land?
The Cardinals have the assets to make the deal for Peavy but IMHO they won't pull the trigger. Not after the Dan Haren-Mark Mulder deal that flopped. They don't want to trade the farm.
On the other hand, this is a new GM with a newish FO. Can they get the deal done? Yes.
Will they? No.
My bet: Atlanta
And for giggles and my wishes, Darkhorse: Cardinals
Our farm system is actually getting some pretty good depth though, much better than the situation we were in when we made the Mulder trade so we can afford to make a deal.
It would take Rasmus and two good pitching prospects though to get it done, depending on who the pitchers would be involved it wouldn't be that bad of a deal, anytime you can land a pitcher as dominant as Peavy you pretty much have to do it. Losing Rasmus sucks due to his potential but you never know how that potential will turn out, plus his dad has been mouthing off about the way the organization has handled moving him up (dad thinks he should be in the big leagues).
I agree with you I think he ends up in Atlanta, but Mozeliak needs to put his stamp on this organization sooner or later with a big trade, this would be the perfect time to do so, give us a Peavy/Wainwright 1-2 punch for years to come, looks good to me.Favorite Teams:

I think it'll end up being Hanson, Escobar, and other parts...I'd do it. The chance to get an ace like Peavy doesn't come along every so often.
Cards are apparently out of it...

Re: Where Will Jake Peavy Land?
I think he ends up in Atlanta. It just makes too much sense for him to end up anywhere else.
I think its a longshot for the Cubs to get him. If they trade for anything, it will be a left handed bat."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

Re: Where Will Jake Peavy Land?
Good luck with that. If he was a free agent, I'd agree, but he's very adamant about his no-trade clause, so it's down to five teams. Houston, Chicago Cubs, LA, St. Louis, and Atlanta (although, they're looking more and more unlikely).Through music, you can live forever...TEAMS: San Diego Chargers, San Diego Padres, Notre Dame Fighting IrishComment

Re: Where Will Jake Peavy Land?
I don't think Peavy will be going anywhere since teams are reluctant to part with players and the fact that Peavy has pretty much put out a "don't trade me."Comment
