In fact, Yaz collected the majority of his IBBs prior to Rice showing up.
Intentional walks now-a-days measures that the bat is dangerous. It is used now, and it was used then.

I dont see how someone like Phil Rizzuto is in the hall with his numbers, but Rice is not, other than the media LOVED Phil (he was a great guy on and off I agree, but his numbers were not great), and they didnt like Rice.

But the fact of the matter is, the hall isnt there because you are a good Samaritan, it is there because you stood out in the game. And Rice stood out in the era of the "dead ball".

    Just silly.

      More dismantling of Shaughnessy's ridiculousness.

I got a good laugh out of this, it's been over 20 years but it's no less accurate now.

That's the difference in a nutshell between knowledge and bull****; knowledge is something that can be objectively demonstrated to be true, and bull**** is something that you just 'know.' If someone can actually demonstrate that Jim Rice is a great ballplayer, I'd be most interested to see the evidence."
