Of everyone on the list, the person you take most offense to is Ron Gant? Not Plesac, Orosco, Greg Vaughn, or Jay bell?
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

Didn't Vaughn hit like 54 homeruns in '98? Just wondering...

He hit 50 that year when the Pads went to the series. He has 355 career homers to go with a .242 average and twice as many K's as BB's. He was also no glove man...he was a good major league player, but no where near a HOF'er.

The guys you are laughing at are only nominated as they retired 5 years ago. It's not like every name is seriously considered for the HOF.

BTW I always liked Plesac. The guy was a great team player and was a good spokesman for the Jays when he was here.

Rickey and Rock would be my ballot.

He's definitely not a Hall of Famer but I love how Orosco worked a few more years onto his career by being the Barry Bonds specialist for the Dodgers.

Ron Gant was a pretty good player from 1990-1996. After that he started to get injured a lot more and was basically an average ball player. He did finish with 321 Home Runs.

Greg Vaughn was, as Sportsforever basically stated, nothing more than a DH with a glove. You look at Vaughn's numbers from '96-'99 and you have to wonder if maybe he had a little "help".

Jay Bell was always a solid glove man and was pretty consistant at the plate during his days with the Pirates.

Jesse Orosco seemed like he would play forever, and he practically did. Orosco is the all time leader in games pitched and interestingly in 24 seasons Orosco changed teams during the same season only twice--and that happend when he played for 3 teams in his final season in 2003.

Dan Plesac was a serviceable lefty out of the 'pen, but nothing special.

None of these players are likely to ever get in the HoF without buying a ticket. But for each of them it must be at least an honor to have their names on the ballott.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Mo Vaughn yet. Big Mo likely does not make it either based on the numbers he finished with. But i wonder if he had not shredded the tendons in his knee, at age 40 would he still be playing?.

Not that I think he should be in, but you do realize that Roger was a two time MVP (1960/1961). In fact, I think he might be the only two time MVP not in the HOF.

While that is important, the Hall looks at overall numbers.

Yea, and Marty Cordova was Rookie of the Year.

I agree and I don't feel he should be in. Your post seemed to imply he was a scrub or something who had a fluke year. He was a solid major leaguer from 1958-1964.

I'm surprised he hasn't gotten in through the vets committee...they have always put non-deserving players in.

                              Lock:

                              Rickey Henderson

                              Borderline:

                              Jim Rice
                              Bert Blyleven
                              Andre Dawson
                              Tim Raines

                              Outside looking in:

                              Mark McGwire
                              Jack Morris
                              Dale Murphy
                              Harold Baines

Henderson gets in (of course) and I think two of the three in the "borderline" group gets in.
