My Ballot would look like this

    Rickey (no doubter)
Jack Morris (This guy should be in the HOF by now damnit)
Jim Rice (he was so close last year. Most experts expect him to get in this year)
Harold Baines (Mr. Consistency, he was probably TOO consistent though)

Rickey should go in unanimously and I'd also vote Blyleven and Raines in. Rice will most likely make it in also although I don't really think he deserves it. At least we won't have to hear the same arguments each offseason anymore though.

I think he would have had over 500 HR's and that usaully gets you in.

Actually if you take away his "juiced" HR numbers he'd probably only barely break the 500 HR mark. What also hurts McGwire is aside from the HRs his other offensive numbers aren't anything to write home about.

Andre Dawson should be in, IMO.

For me, Rickey Henderson is the only one on this list who deserves it. Next best case is Raines. Rice/Morris/Blyleven don't belong IMO.

I think Mattingly would have been a cinch if he hadn't run into injuries...his numbers in his prime were amazing, but he didn't do it long enough.

Can anyone else not wait to hear Rickey's HOF speech? What % of it will be in the the third person? 85%

It's kind of funny that he never actually retired from the game. It's just nobody needed him anymore...kind of sad that he didn't get the hint...oh well I bet he's playing in some semi pro team as we speak hoping the Padres or A's will pick him up for one more go.

Definitely one of the most exciting players during his time. Nothing better then him falling behind 0-2 to lead off a game and then work a 12-pitch walk and then steal second and then third on the next few pitches and then score on fly ball.

The stupid "feared" comment in defense of Rice always makes me want to go postal on someone.

I don't mind if you post his decade numbers and say that's why he was a Hall of Famer. I can at least understand a person's argument there.

But, you're right, every writer in his defense always talks about how during a decade he was the most feared hitter in baseball.

Soon we'll be reading about Eckstein being a Hall of Famer because of his grit.

Greg Vaughn? LOL, I watched almost his whole career here in Milwaukee and other than striking out or hitting a homerun he did nothing.

I know injuries hit him hard toward the latter part of his career, I will never understand how Don is not in. He had 222 HR's, 1100 rbi's, lifetime fld % of .993. He won 9 gold gloves, 3 Silver slugger awards and the MVP in 85( his best year in the Majors). Maybe I just think too much of "Donnie Baseball", but in my mind this guy is a hall of famer.

Btw, left off of this list of players up for election is the 2nd all-time saves leader, Lee Smith.

A definite Hall of Famer in my book.

and as a lifetime Cub fan, would love to have Grace, Dawson and Smith in the Hall. It's not going to happen, but I would still love to see it.
