Re: Name players that you think were clean during the steroid era
True, the season after Steroids were prohibited officially by MLB and and some other Scandals with Jose Canseco, Mcgwire, Rafael Palmairo and Sosa, he was plagued with injuries. I dont know if he ever did it, but I agree with u, I will not go as far as to exclude him from the steroids-free list.Comment

Chipper's really only had one down year in his career. And he still hit 30 homers. But yeah, Manny and Pujols are probably the two most consistent hitters in baseball.Comment

Re: Name players that you think were clean during the steroid era
No he wasn't. In 03 he had one of his best season ever. In 04 the only injury he had was plantar fasciitis. Even with that he still hit .331 with 46 HR's and 123 RBI's. He never went to the DL until 2006 long after testing already started. 2006 was the first time he ever played under 155 games.Comment

Re: Name players that you think were clean during the steroid era
Not going to try to ague with you about him being clean, but a few years ago He was in Muscle & Fitness and he is defintetly not the same size he was when he started. The article even talked about it. I remember after seeing a picture of him that I had no clue he was that big. It talked about when he first started working out as a rook, he barely used dumbells over 25 and now he throwing 50's around like they are nothing and adding some ridiculous number to his bench as well. You don't add that kinda weight without adding mass. I'm not debating that he's clean or not clean, all I'm saying is he might not look that much bigger but he has put weight on his frame. He's a workout freak so he probably is one of those guys who didn't do anything.Comment

Re: Name players that you think were clean during the steroid era
I would bet my left nut that Frank Thomas & Ken Griffey Jr are clean.
I would be absolutely gutted if either of them had used steroids theyre the reason I got into baseball and are 2 heroes of mine.
Others I think are clean:
Roy Oswalt
Curt Schilling
Mike Mussina
Roy Halladay
Ichiro
Edgar Martinez(Text book hitter)
Vlad
Kenny Lofton
Cal Ripken Jr
Manny Ramirez
Big Papi
Derek Jeter
Paul O'neill
Bernie Williams
Carlos Delgado
Mike Piazza(Some piece of **** journalist was trying to make out Piazza used on some website other week...but I dont believe he did)
Jorge Posada
Carlos Beltran
Bobby Abreu
Adam Dunn
There are loads though that I think are honest, good guys who havnt used steroids but these above stick out.
And a lot of players are going to have come into contact with some shyster trainer who supplied drugs to somebody...it doesnt mean that they used steroids.
..this is in particular refernce to the Vlad comment earlier..just by watching him hit...I'd say its all down to his talent and ability to hit that he is so good.Comment

Re: Name players that you think were clean during the steroid era
Link to the article about Piazza
I guess that his ability to play regulary at a physically stressful position whilst maintaining HR power is the reason he is being suspected...although surely steroids would have improved his limp noodle arm for throwing baserunners out...right?
But seriously if all they are going on is rumoured back acne and the fact he wasnt drafted high then I would prefer they dont write articles throwing dirt on players names.
If it turns out Piazza used steroids I'll be gutted...but I will still stand by my comment here that they had(At this point in time)no reason/proof/right to start throwing around unfounded accusations.

Re: Name players that you think were clean during the steroid era
Frank Thomas for sure.
He's one of the few I absolutely 100% believe because he was blowing the whistle on the steroid problem as soon as 1996-1997. He spearheaded a lot attempting testing and was one of main White Sox that wanted to skip the 2003 testing so to put the numbers above the minimum for mandatory testing. Also was one of the few players who when invited to Congress actually remembered his language, wanted to talk about the past and didn't point a finger.
The rest of the league was sticking to their ******* "Clubhouse Code" crap. So unfortunately we'll never know.PSN: VoicesWrestling
