Re: Name players that you think were clean during the steroid era
Does anyone recall if Brett Boone was on the Mitchell Report list? I always thought the guy was the poster boy for steroids...a good glove, 10-15 HR, .250 hitter most of his career who goes off in Seattle for a few years of .330/40-45/100. As soon as testing was implemented in 2004 he was done."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I believe the Boone's were on there.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

I sure hope so, him and Brady Anderson are the poster boys for the era of average to above-average players going elite thanks to steroids.PSN: VoicesWrestling

I don't know if he used during his Major League career, but Piazza admits trying steroids when he was a "younger" player. It's in the new book about Roger Clemens by Jeff Pearlman.Comment

I agree with you on desperately wanting to see that list...but I disagree on your negativity....'No-one was clean...' that is a really depressing viewpoint you have there buddy.

Re: Name players that you think were clean during the steroid era
Mark McGwire. Yeah, say im crazy, but he does have the best case. I mean, this is the guy who hit 52 bombs in his rookie year. In the 98 season, he hit 70. That's an 18 homer jump. An 18 homer jump isn't that much from your rookie season to your best season. But bonds hit 16 his rookie year, and he never got above 35 in his whole time in pittsburgh, but he somehow gets a 73 homer season? That's steroids. Yeah, McGwire got big, but there wasn't as big of a jump in homeruns as there was for Bonds and Sosa.Comment

McGwire hit 49 bombs his rookie year, ( broke the record by 11, which was set by Wally Berger in 1930). Mac could have hit 50, but he missed the last game of the year due to the birth of his son.
Without juicing, he still would have hit 500 bombs. It stinks that he basically lost 1993 and 1994 due to a foot injury. He said he almost retired. In 2000 and 2001, his last 2 years, he suffered knee injuries, perhaps due to the juice.
If he didn't juice, you think he would have at least defended himself against the allegations. He never said a word, and now he is lumped in with the "proven" cheaters who actually failed drug tests like Palmeiro, A-Rod, and Manny..Comment

Re: Name players that you think were clean during the steroid era
Carlos Beltran falls under that category of "If he's not clean, then no one is clean" category for me.
My hunch is Jim Thome is clean
I think Albert Belle was clean
This one might be a litle dicey, but I think Juan Gonzalez was clean.Comment
