Oh come on, that argument is terrible, especially in baseball. 1 player can only do so much, its not his fault the rest of his team sucks.

That's not a valid argument. That's a reflection of the teams they play on.

i take it you think A-Rod is comparable to Mickey Mantle? hell why dont we just compare him to Ruth, and Cobb while we're at it. Not to take anything away from A-Rod, but he is only great compared to the players of today, and in 20 years, he'll be like Robin Yount, and Ryan Sandberg, they were great for their times, but have no comparison to guys like Mantle, Williams, Dimaggio, etc. etc. etc.

Thats why it is so difficult to compare players of today to players from the past. You only take numbers into account, but you dont take opposition, poor pitching. the only thing players today have over players from the past is technology. The ability to heal faster then players then could. Lou Gehrig played his whole career with broken fingers, and muscle pulls. Imagine if he had the ability to have those things fixed they way they do know. Hell he probrably would have played for another 4 or 5 years, because most people think his injuries led to his disease. A-Rod is definately the most complete player today, Sori and Vlad are also very close in respect to A-Rod. But i think some of the reasoning behind peoples excuses for why Sori isnt THE MOST complete, is very unfounded. His defense is much better, and his walks to K ratio is not valid, cause if he walked more, that means he swings the bat less, and in turn, less production. He drove in 102 runs last season in the leadoff spot, i can't remember any leadoff hitter doing that 2 years in a row. maybe Rickey did it, but i dont have numbers in front of me.

Too early for me to say. THeir numbers are comparable at this point, and AROD is as good a defensive player as there is. I was actually scoffing at your notion that Mantle was faster and made better decisions in the field. As this is something you can't really prove.

I'd argue this point with you more, if I thought you knew anything about baseball. But going on your past posts your just another homer Yankee fan who thinks he knows much more than he does.

Well I know alot about baseball, so your opinion is your own, but Mantle was faster, his SB numbers might not prove it, but his films from games he played in proves it. He covered CF in Yankee Stadium when it was one of the most vast outfields in the baseball. But comparing anything that A-Rod does against todays pitchers, to anything that Mantle did against pitchers during his career, is unfair to Mantle. Everyone seems to think I'm bias because im a yankee fan, but thats not true at all. Im a purist, and I think todays players are overated compared to players from the past.

please dont ever compare AROD to the Mick. Thats like comparing soccer with football. Sure they are both great, but in no comparison. Mickey was faster, with no knees at that, he was stronger, and he made better decisions on the field.

i take it you think A-Rod is comparable to Mickey Mantle? hell why dont we just compare him to Ruth, and Cobb while we're at it. Not to take anything away from A-Rod, but he is only great compared to the players of today, and in 20 years, he'll be like Robin Yount, and Ryan Sandberg, they were great for their times, but have no comparison to guys like Mantle, Williams, Dimaggio, etc. etc. etc.
