Yes I do, and he was a great player, but he didnt change an entire generation so SS's.

    Get a clue.

No you get a clue... he revolutionized it so much, they had to move him to 1B, because they were afraid leaving him at SS would shorten his career. true, Banks only hit .300 a few times.. A-Rod probrably already has more, which would probrably make him better, but A-Rod didnt revolutionize anything... if you were a little bit older and wiser, you might understand this

Typical Yankee fan, always thinking they know more than everyone else.

Move on, you have yet to prove a point, and probably won't do so.

Ripken was the first really "big" guy to play the position and while there were still some all glove-no hit type of SS' around there were some teams that decided to change that. I will say that Arod did open the floodgates for guys like him to play SS but if it wasn't for ripken you'd probably still see small speedy guys playing the position today.

You may have a point there Sportsman. It could be Ripken that changed the position the most. But it was AROD that led to so many teams looking for that type of player at that position.

Cal Ripken is another example of an older hitting SS before A-Rod... Ripken was great when he was younger, but i also think with the last 2 or 3 seasons he had at the end of the streak were a joke... I think if it wasnt for the streak, he would have been traded, or even sat down every once in awhile. But they kept putting him out there, because of the streak.

If he revolutionized it so much, than why do people rarely talk about him?

It may seem that I'm just backing up bkrich83, but thats not how it is, I can careless what he does. I really don't think Ernie Banks did anything to the SS position... A-Rod changed it. Look at how much he gets payed...SS leading the league in homers... and alot more...

i gotta go w/ werner on this one (ss) banks hit 500 dingers when no other ss could even touch a quarter of that. if he would've played on world series team he would've gotten more recognition.
