I'm looking forward to the Heyward Posey matchup the next four games. I hope Jason gets his homerun swing going again in the SF series.

He is 44th in adjusted OPS (which takes into account ALL eras of baseball) and that is without his decline period...which may drop him to 80th by the time he retires. This year he is 117...

That's just his offense...his defense has always been vastly overrated...

Add to the fact that power hitters usually keep their discipline while losing power...Alex never had great discipline like a Jim Thome who he is currently tied with for ERA+

Besides, he is a cretin on and off the field
I'm just going to say that it is quite ironic that here you are busting out OPS+ to denigrate ARod right after I read your soliloquy in the Dusty Baker thread about all the SABR nerds.

Unless you go solely by W/L record, KK has been just as good(or bad..), if not better than Lowe. He's had his share of struggles, but he's been a decent middle to back end of the rotation type of guy.

Plus, we're probably going to have to trade this guy over the off season. With all of the quality pitching prospects due up, someone is going to have to go somewhere. No one is going to take on Lowe's contract, and Huddy, JJ, and Hanson aren't going anywhere either. That really only leaves KK, who's going to be much harder to move if he spends the rest of the year rotting away in the bullpen.

I still can't figure out why a guy like Chavez was getting mop up work when there's a guy like KK, who is much better, and in serious need of getting some work in. And now they're basically at the point where they might not be able to use him, simply because he probably isn't stretched out, or quite sharp enough to give us quality innings.

        Lowe's numbers w/ATL
        4.58 ERA 330.1 IP

        KK's numbers w/ATL
        4.17 ERA 239.2 IP

I dunno, I guess I just don't understand why KK is getting completely shut out by the Braves. With Medlen down, I think he deserves some kind of shot. It would make more sense than letting the guy waste a spot on the roster.

Kawakami is giving up nearly an .800 OPS against opponents and to be frank, he puts himself in those positions to lose ballgames. Way to many walks, a WHIP nearly 1.50 and isn't pitching to the talent he has.

The movement on his pitches is phenomenal sometimes but he cannot control it, as he continually nibbles around the plate. When he walks enough guys to the point he HAS to throw it for a strike he gets pounded.

I'm not a Derek Lowe either by any stretch either. I'd rather have Vazquez.

Yeah, ol' Vazquez would've been nice to keep around, but then we wouldn't have had enough money to make those big off season acquisitions. Ya know, like Glaus and Hinske... lol. Because those guys were sooo expensive.

Speaking of Glaus. I've seen a few rumblings that the Braves might actually release him if he can't get his stuff together. I'd prefer that they just put him on the DL for a while, but we really need him out of the lineup. He really only had 4-5 good weeks, and the rest has just been terrible.

You can tell that he's been hurting for a while now, so hopefully they'll just let him rest up. If he can even get close to what he was doing for us earlier in the year, it would really help late in the season, and maybe even into the playoffs.

No worries, Raburn is good for a clutch hit about 2 or 3 times a year, no way he'd come through again in the 11th.

SICK of this... Bobby Jenks, GTFO. For real.

Raburn is late on 2 fastballs and then you slow his bat down with a hanging slider??? Jenks needs to buy Mark Kotsay dinner for the next week after he pulled his fat *** out of the fire today.

                    Frustrating...

Or to Ramon Castro, I have a feeling if A.J. is behind the plate, that pitch never gets called/thrown. Especially since Jenks' slider is his 4th best pitch IMO.

But oh well, they won the game, and my rage is slowly subsiding...

Josh Tomlin has to be the most untalented pitcher in the Majors, but his stuff is so accurate that the balls end up being hit not hard enough.

It's fun to watch, but I cannot help but think he's Jeremy Sowers part II.
