If Ichiro played in Yankee stadium, batting 3rd, and only trying to hit for power, he would hit atleast 30 home runs a year. Atleast.

Heck, you can say that about every person, and that still won't make it true.
Kerplunk, since you responded, who you feel is more valuable to Seattle, Ichiro or Edgar?

I think Luis Castillo could hit 30 homers in Yankee Stadium.

I rest my case.

Actually, you can't say that. One of the reasons this is very apparent would be how almost all of Ichiro's homeruns in his career have either tied or given the lead to the Mariners. I wonder why that would be? Maybe because he only trys to hit homeruns in very specific situations. I believe Ichiro is more valuable to the Mariners, then Giambi is to the Yankees. I don't even think that can be debated. Now onto who is more valuable on the Mariners. Ichiro is more valuable to the Mariners simply because he comes up big in big situations, and because of his defense. Edgar right now, is arguably the biggest liabilty on the basepaths in the Major leagues.

One thing I've mentioned about Giambi is that he's no Yankee Stadium hitter, so using the stadium advantage in this case isn't fair. But I do agree that Ichiro would easily put up 18 to 20 home-runs if he played in Yankee stadium because he takes advantage of the environment and the situation like no other. And I guarantee almost all would occur in game breaking situations.
As for Edgar being more valuable than Ichiro...

That's just killer.

So couple of M's fans(Marwinner, Kerplunk) don't agree, I have no problem with that. Not all share the same view.

Another way to show his value. In 2002, Ichiro was better then he ever was in the first half. Hit near .370 if I remember correctly. Edgar was out most of the first half, Boone couldn't hit, and guess what? The Mariners sustained a 3 game lead in the AL West. Ichiro wears down in the second half, stops running, and hits .280, .250 during the most critical month. He looked like a little leaguer at times. Not only did they lose the AL West, the Angels who they swept earlier in the year a couple of times, overtook them. While Ichiro wasn't the only factor in this, he was by far the biggest one. I think this is a pretty clear indicator of how valuable Ichiro is to the Mariners. No knock against Edgar but he has never really been the most important Mariner. Always been either Randy, Griffey, A-rod, Ichiro.
