While the idea the DH position having anything to do with versatility seems laughable, there are people who suffer as a DH. Frank Thomas for example, has played much worse as a DH than as a first baseman this season. Therefore, he really does have but one position to play well at in the AL, while Jason Giambi has two.

I wouldn't call playing DH "versatile" because ANYONE can do it. Also, Frank is putting up pretty good numbers if you ask me.

Frank Thomas
As DH: 344 abs, 26 home runs, 56 rbis, .879 OPS
As 1B: 91 abs, 8 home runs, 22 rbis, 1.212 OPS
Imagine if he had a full year at first base. Ok, so those stats prove he can play well as a DH, but it does show that he's worse as a DH than as a first baseman.Comment

Re: Who should win the AL MVP?
This crap about Ichiro vs. Giambi, is getting way outta hand. You can talk about all the stats you want, stats don't make an MVP. Like I said before, ask A-rod.
The only IMPORTANT question is this...
Take out your choice for MVP outta the starting line-up...will your team still make the playoffs or have a winning record? Before you answer, think about...the team's picthing staff, bench, bullpen, and the other starters on your team.
I personally find it hard to beleive the Yankees will miss the playoffs regardless of who's playing first base. This is a stacked team, with a good mix talent and expeirence. I think this will be either won by Maggs or Ichiro personally. Ichiro is all world in my book, he can do every thing but slugg 30 homers a year. He can beat you with every part of his body needed to play baseball, legs, feet, arm, head, eyes and hands. As for Maggilo, what can I say, he always seems to get hot at the right time.
For more evidence, read this:
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/column...amp;id=1599755
and for those yankee homers out there..especially read this quote:
</font><blockquote><font class="small">Quote:</font><hr />
The verdict: Check your history: Yankee MVPs are rare. Giambi isn't likely to reverse that trend in a crowded field.
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">Cameras or guns, one of them is gonna shoot me to death.Comment

Re: Who should win the AL MVP?
Good Post Niv...
Ichiro actually can hit for a good amount of power..He used to hit near 25-30 homers in japan and i've heard from numorous Mariner fans that during batting practice he hits many homeruns...Comment
