As a Cubs fan, they better hire Sandberg.. it's obvious Choice, even though Quade deserves some consideration with the way they played for him.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

Re: Managers: Who's in?/Who's out?
It won't be Bobby Valentine, he already turned down both the Marlins and the Orioles (prior to the O's hiring Showalter). If Valentine can't land with the Mets or Cubs he probably will not manage next season.Comment

Well apparently Valentine likes what the Blue Jays are doing as it's been reported this morning that he'll be interviewing for the Toronto job.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

There's a team actually interested in Jim Fregosi as manager?
That would be a HORRIBLE move if the Marlins hire him.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Fredi Gonzalez will be ATL's manager...should be a press conference tomorrow. Also, Terry Pendleton is available.

It will be interesting to see how he fairs in Atlanta with a team with a little more financial flexability than the Marlins.Comment

Re: Managers: Who's in?/Who's out?
It seems the Mariners have interviewed Cecil Cooper and John Gibbons and are rumored to have at least talked to Eric Wedge. Not a lot to get excited about with these candidates. Cooper has worked with Jack Z in Milwaukee and maybe could be decent, Gibbons and Wedge would be horrible choices to manage the team. Gibbons likes to fight with his own players and maybe Jack doesn't know that Wedge ran Milton Bradley out of Cleveland and i doubt that is a reunion that would make for a peacefull clubhouse.Comment

Re: Managers: Who's in?/Who's out?
With the deconstructing of the Rays apparently immanent this could be the best chance for the Jays to make a move in the AL East. However, the Blue Jays haven't been relavent since 1993 and is this a high enough profile job for Valentine?. Jays do not get a lot of national exposure and Bobby V loves his face time. I wonder if he will wait (and if the Jays are willing to wait) to see what happens with the New York job(s) and the Cubs opening.Comment

Anyways, the Jays were denied permission to speak to Tim Wallach. The implication being that Wallach may very well be on Don Mattingly's staff in LA.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
