I don't see why people want Valentine as a manager, especially Toronto. Valentine does well with vets which are almost there...He could probably do well with the Cardinals if La Russa stepped out after this year.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

I've heard Joey Cora's name floating around for the M's job. Ichiro has also given Bobby Valentine his endorsment. I would prefer Cora though. What we really need is a firey manager to light a fire under these guys. Someone like a Larry Bowa.

        Cora's fiery?

I always get the impression he's good cop to Ozzie's bad cop in Chicago.

I think Don Wakamatsu is going to be good. It was BS to fire him. Unless you bring in someone different, it was pointless to fire him. Griffey was horrible, the front office if they didn't see that coming was stupid. The Figgins thing was because Wak only felt he could do certain things to certain players. Bring in Valentine or Gibbons for a year or two just so they can clash with players...straighten this mess out again, and go from there. I don't think either is a great teacher though. The Mariners are young, plus Ichiro and Figgins. As long as the next manager doesn't bench Figgins...whoever it is will still lose but be fine. I think if you could go either disciplinarian or teacher. Truth is I don't care. As long as Milton Bradley isn't on the roster. I'm thinking Buck Showalter would've been good. Bring some order to things.

It's interesting that Gibbons is garnering some interest. I think some of the fiascos he got involved in in Toronto were a bit overblown. Gibby was liked a lot by his players and the ones he clashed with were malcontents. The biggest knock against him is that he's got one of the itchiest trigger fingers i've ever seen with bullpen management. If he's ever a manager again in the big leagues the fans of said team will have a field day second guessing his bullpen management.

If it weren't for Joel Skinner, he'd get a lot better rep.

If Wedge's history in Cleveland is any indication on what the Mariners can expect then they will probably be bad then mediocre then good then bad then good then mediocre then bad then he will be fired.

Wonder how fast Wedge will try to run Milton Bradley out of town this time?...

Ron Washington will almost certainly sign a new multi-year contract with Texas once the postseason is over.

                        Thank goodness!

When I heard his name in connection with the Toronto job I was a little scared. I don't like Wedge much at all. He's a great motivator and can get the most out of some players but his bullpen management and his personality towards his players leaves a lot to be desired.

Maybe. Cleveland fans hate him...but that team sucked for lack of talent. Ya'll gave the team away. Besides we already have Carl Willis as our pitching coach.

Looks like the favorite right now for the Marlins is D'backs bench coach Bo porter, who was the 3rd base coach for them for about 4 years so he's familiar with players such as Uggla,Hanley,JJ,Nolasco
Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, Lightning

There is absolutely no way that 2007 team lacked talent.

The fact that team didn't win a World Series is criminal.
