Re: NL MVP Race
I like Kemp a lot. I think he has had an outstanding all around year. But I think Braun is having a better season and without him, Fielder doesn't get nearly as many opportunities to drive in his runs.Comment

Re: NL MVP Race
RISP isn't a very stable stat. I think it's overrated. Nonetheless, I agree that Votto would probably look better than Fielder if he were on the Brewers, but like the other guy said there's no way to prove that.NFL: Indianapolis Colts (12-6)
NBA: Indiana Pacers (42-13)
MLB: Cincinnati Reds (0-0)
NHL: Detroit Red Wings (26-20-12)
NCAA: Purdue Boilermakers (FB: 1-11, BB: 15-12), Michigan Wolverines (FB: 7-6, BB: 19-7, H: 15-10-3)Comment

Re: NL MVP Race
I was referencing the fact that Fielder has had about 60 more people on base when he comes up with over half of them in scoring position, not just that Votto is hitting well over .400 with RISP. It's easier to drive in runs when people are on base for you.Comment

Re: NL MVP Race
I understand and respect the arguments for selecting either Ryan Braun or Prince Fielder (Justin Upton is a somewhat distant fourth in my book). But if I had a vote to cast in this race I would choose Matt Kemp. This guy is pretty much having a special season and is also doing a lot of his damage with little to no protection around him in the lineup.

Re: NL MVP Race
I like Kemp a lot this year. He's been basically the only Dodger hitter that has produced this year and he's putting up fantastic numbers.
5th in average, 6th in OBP, 2nd in slugging, 2nd in RBI's with a horrid lineup. Then, if you want to play the WAR game, he leads the NL in that category, showing he is most valuable player in the league.
If not Kemp, then I'd go with Braun.
1. Kemp
2. Braun
3. Votto
4. Tulowitzki
5. Victorino7 National Championships
43 Conference Championships
152 All-Americans
5 Heisman Trophy Winners

#1 in weeks ranked top 5 in AP Poll

Re: NL MVP Race
Most valuable player to the team.
Not best player in the league.
The player that is most valuable to their team.
Giving it to a player on a bad team is like a Wii game getting an overall best graphics award because it's the best looking game on the Wii.Comment
