Saw on ESPN that MLB is unlikely to overturn 50 game suspension.

Do you really care where I sent this from?
    MLB: Texas Rangers
    Soccer: FC Dallas, Fleetwood Town
    NCAA: SMU, UTA
    NFL: Dallas Cowboys
    NHL: Dallas Stars
    NBA: Dallas Mavericks

Because of his not informing the MLB prior to testing.

Re: Braun tests positive for PEDs.

If it's a medical issue reason, the rules are in place of the meds he is taking he must report that to MLB. Either Braun is responsible for that or the Brewers are, probably both.

TMZ tracked down Braun at LAX and he still said, he'd love to tell his side of the story, but he can't, but he said he will will get his day to talk.

He may get his day, but I doubt it will exclude MLB for suspending him.

That's just. I mean, come on. After the witch hunts of the past decade? Come on! He deserves 100 games for stupidity if it's really an honest mistake.

Agreed, but you know he will even tell the world it wasn't stupidity, he will blame others or the system before he blames himself.

Which is stupidity in all of itself.

I doubt it. I can see him taking the blame for this and apologizing to Milwaukee fans. He gave us the hometown discount way back when, and seems to have his head on right (this stupidity situation not withstanding).

              He won't pass the buck.

Re: Braun tests positive for PEDs.

                On the notifying.....
                I'll play a little devil's advocate here.

In the FDNY, there are MANY medications that you are not allowed to take prior to starting a tour.....and it makes sense. Thing is....most of these meds are probably something that I could take a day before....and it wouldn't effect me adversely for my job, but would remain in my system for a test.
Now....they do allow you to list anything you want to declare in the event of a pi$$ test....., and they probably do have a # to call if you are taking a med that would show up on a pi$$ test(a sleeping pill for example), but I'm sure most just figure it won't show up...or I'm not getting tested today....

It could just be an honest mistake. Costly, but honest.

If it was a deliberate attempt to use and hide a banned substance for performance enhancing reasons....I'm all for the suspension.....but...

Oh I agree with you there.

We get tested in the military quite often, probably the same tests. Procedures sound the same as yours.

Now do I necessarily agree with the suspension? No but the rules are rules. Its one of those unfortunate situations.

Re: Braun tests positive for PEDs.

Not surprisingly, a teammate is strongly sticking up for Braun.

                    Link isn't working.

Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy offered a vigorous defense of teammate Ryan Braun during an appearance on the team's flagship radio station Thursday night, telling 620-AM WTMJ that he would be, "very, very, very shocked" if Braun knowingly cheated Major League Baseball's rules against banned substances.

Braun currently faces the prospect of a 50-game suspension under MLB's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program and is reportedly appealing.

"I feel for him, I really do," Lucroy said. "Let me tell you something for everybody that's listening: I've seen this guy in the weight room every single day work his butt off. There is no one on this team that works as hard as he does. ... I've never witnessed him do anything that I would think or anyone else would think is illegal. I honestly think it was some kind of screw-up. I don't know what happened. I would be very, very, very shocked if he actually took something knowingly. This guy is way too smart to do something like that.

"That's the first thing I said, the first thing that people I've talked to who know him said: There's no way. He doesn't need to take that stuff to be as good as he is, and everybody who knows him, knows that."

News of Braun's test broke last month in an ESPN Outside the Lines report. Typically, such results don't leak until a player has had an opportunity to appeal, and Lucroy was upset that this case marked an exception.

"Absolutely, it ticked me off because it's not anybody else's business," Lucroy said. "There's a lot of guys, not that I know personally, but everybody that has had this happen to before, I don't know if that stuff has leaked or not. I don't think it's anybody's business until it's proven one way or another.

"I think everybody is going to paint [Braun] with a broad brush and be like, 'Oh, he's a cheater.' The thing that bothers me is that if he is proven innocent, he is going to have this stigma the rest of his life. That's what bothers me. He doesn't deserve it. My personal opinion is he doesn't deserve it.

"I really have faith in the fact that the right decision is going to be made, and hopefully people can admit their mistakes, and hopefully we come out of this clean. Because I tell you what, we need him. We need him as a teammate and we need him as an icon for our organization."

I'm just going to play devil's advocate on Lucroy's quote, though it says nothing about my opinion on the matter.

Does he think that people who take PEDs don't have to work out in the weight room? That aren't magic pills that bulk you up overnight.

If anything, taking PEDs is a way to work harder (as in, more often) in the weight room.

Yeah, he's talking more to the casual fan, I guess. Most of us here recognize that steroids aren't a magic pill, it still takes a hell of a lot of work and talent to make the most of the little extra PED's give you. That's why they're performance-enhancing. They enhance, not remake your game.

Speaking on Knight's post... it's easy to sit back here and form opinions, but I'm not walking in Braun's shoes (like you said, he might have thought oh this won't raise a red flag anyway so I'm good to go). I'm sure it could be something simple that he neglected, slipped his mind, or plain didn't know. It's easy to judge someone else's situation.

No judgment from me on Braun until all the facts are out.

Mistakes do happen... I don't think these tests are perfect by any stretch of the imagination. I too have to submit to drug tests and the things that can trigger a positive result would surprise you.
