Re: Braun tests positive for PEDs.

The didn't know what he has taken part doesn't fly with me. All professional athletes should know the rules and what shouldn't go into your system.

One part I'm struggling with is his wasn't just normal tested positive, it was 4 times the normal level. How does a normal human being that test that high, take another test a few weeks later and test negative? I could see someone testing at the normal level and it would leave your system, but 4 times as high?

If he's guilty, he needs to pay for the crime and he will be paying for it longer than 25 or 50 days. If he's exonerated, it will still be guilt by association.

He is guilty until proven innocent. I'd just like to hear the Braun side.

I find Braun to be pretty douchey, but this just seems out of character.

I cannot in good faith argue this knowing that this picture exists:

The "Ryan Braun's possible herpes and the meds for it might be the cause" rumors are starting to pick up steam.

I have more inside information on the Ryan Braun ‘herpes rumor’ situation. I heard this yesterday from two guys who both work for […]

I've never rooted for someone to have herpes before. This is weird.

Gosh darn her and her awesomeness.

I didn't really believe it, it all just seemed too convenient.

That said, I was hoping like hell that it was actually true.

Yea, the energy thing was a given.

What I was trying to say was, that when on a test booster, it's not going to produce astronomical numbers like taking HGH or steroids would.

Obviously, muscle recovery and less fatigue are advantages, but not to the extremes of other PEDs. Like I said though, he knew the rules.

Taking supplements that enhance your muscle recovery is taking PEDs so I have no idea what you're talking about.

With 70% of American adults having oral herpes and 25% having genital herpes. I doubt he would be the first athlete you rooted for that had the herp.

I've come around in my thinking and feel that Braun will be suspended, unless this report is true. I don't see how he won't unless this report is true.

But, TMZ, (yeah, I know it's a gossip magazine) is reporting this. Still, if this is true, the doctor and Braun need to know what is going into his body for meds.

Shame on ESPN for reporting the confidential story in the first place.

Ryan Braun's positive test for banned substances was caused by medication he's taking for a private medical issue -- NOT performance enhancing drugs ... this according to sources directly connected with Major League Baseball.

We're told the reigning National League MVP is adamant he has not taken drugs or steroids of any kind.

One source simply told us ... "The medication contained banned substances resulting in the positive test." We're also told prior to taking the dirty test, Braun had always tested negative for banned substances.

The nature of Braun's medical ailment is unclear.

It's also unclear if the Milwaukee Brewers star knew the substances were in his medication before he took it -- though it seems highly unlikely.

The policy on testing needs to be reworked. If it's a medication he's taking that contains banned substances, players should be able to ask for a waiver for this kind of thing to be okay'ed to show up as a positive.

What, so he's not allowed to treat whatever condition he may have? It doesn't make any sense. Under the current rules, that's what's happening.

I guess players could fabricate conditions, but still. I don't think every player is going to say, "Oh I have to take this for this, so let that high result slide."

His lawyer had this to say on Friday.

Braun's representatives at CAA Sports have retained prominent attorney David Cornwell to handle the appeal, and on Friday, Cornwell appeared on CNN to criticize the "breathless coverage" of the story.

"Confidentiality was breached here, and I think we will find -- I fully expect to be able to demonstrate that Ryan did not violate the substance policy of Major League Baseball," Cornwell told CNN. "And consequently, we shouldn't be dealing with this discussion at all, but at a minimum, I urge everybody to keep an open mind and give us the chance to make our case in private."

Of course, that was before the leak came out today. Surprise, leaks all over the place.

If the report is true, shame for rushing to judge Braun.
