Re: 2012 Spring Training Discussion Thread
I'm glad Spring Training is finally here, all these months since the day after game 7 of the World Series all I would talk about was Baseball with my old man, also I heard Yankees signed Ilbanez.. this gives me a lot of hope. Why did I move here? I guess it was the weather.Comment

Re: 2012 Spring Training Discussion Thread
Seeing how good Cabrera is looking has got me more excited for this year. I'm excited to see him play third base.
Last year he showed up to Spring Training in Police custody, with a bottle of scotch, a few double chins and his jersey couldn't contain his stomach, so this is a very nice improvement.
I kid, I kid...
You have to be able to reach the ball in order to make an error anyways, so I'm sure he'll be fine. Now, more than everComment

This is a few days old in terms of news but I think it bears saying here. Apparently Colby Rasmus has been progressing really well this offseason and has his head in the game as he's said to want to run the basepaths more and has apparently eliminated the high leg kick from his swing.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2012 Spring Training Discussion Thread
Do not like.
SCOTTSDALE — In an offseason defined by change, general manager Dan O'Dowd made a stunning commitment to stability Monday, naming Jim Tracy the team's manager "indefinitely" with a handshake agreement.
Tracy was entering the final year of his three-year, $4.4 million deal signed after guiding the Rockies to the playoffs in 2009. O'Dowd said there's no term attached the extension, though it covers at the minimum the 2013 season.
"Basically what I am saying is that I should never have this conversation with you again," O'Dowd said. "To say it extends just beyond 2013 would not do justice to Jim. It could be until he's using a cane and having trouble getting onto the field. Quite honestly, it can be for whatever number of years Jim wants it to be for."Aaron

Re: 2012 Spring Training Discussion Thread
Hanley started working out in Jupiter, worked in the cages and fielded balls at 3rd for awhile. Good news coming off the surgery, but is told to not dive for balls yet.
He sounded very upbeat and actually happy in the interviews I saw, complete 180 from reports during the offseason about switchingSaints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Does anybody see someone who could pull through and win the triple crown in the next couple of years?
To see someone do that against all of the big name pitchers out there would be a phenomenal feat.Comment

Re: 2012 Spring Training Discussion Thread
I think he'll bounce back. He's way too smart of a player to not adjust, and everything I've read is that he knew this was coming and has been adjusting his stance/style to revolve around driving the ball more rather than slap hitting.Comment
