Yeah...the Cubs are finally doing a dedicated rebuilding effort, but I really don't think they're going to be that competitive this year. Then again, playing up the Cubs and shooting them down when they inevitably fall (bonus points if the curse is mentioned) seems like something of a tradition these days.

Really? Maybe in 2 Years. I could see them finishing near .500 but that's about much upside they have.

Also on the Molina contract: 75 Mil, 2nd Highest payed C in the game. He's a good C. But I thought they overpayed for him. I thought 60 Mil was too much for him. But good for him I guess.

Yeah, odds wise, the Cubs are #5 in the league with 6-1 odds of winning the world series. Makes zero sense to me.

Talk of Alex Burnett being in the set up role really makes it tough to look forward to this season.

            More Jays news:

            - There's a LOT of talk of how good Dustin McGowan is throwing in Dunedin as he's throwing hard and showing a lot of life on his pitches. JP Arencibia has been quoted as saying that he's never caught anyone that had the kind of stuff that McGowan is showing so far. Few remember that when McGowan got those rash of career threatening injuries he was viewed as a blue chip prospect who'd be a #1 starter on any team in the majors. It's awesome to hear that he's starting to show that kind of stuff again.

That's good to hear about McGowan. I still think he can be a great starting pitcher.

A.J. Burnett had a bad day yesterday.

Burnett was injured as he hit during a bunting drill. After the ball hit the temple near his right eye, a dazed Burnett dropped into a crouch near home plate. Players who had gathered to watch the drill gasped loudly then went quiet as Burnett sagged to his knee. As he was examined by an athletic trainer, Burnett joked, “Where did the bone go?

Prince hits 611 ft homer in practice.

Oh, he really got all of that one. Just like his daddy. Detroit Tigers slugger Prince Fielder, during a round of batting practice Wednesday, reportedly hit a ball 611 feet — a distance measured by longtime Detroit News scribe Tom Gage. … Continue reading →
