I'm curious indeed to see how Braun fares in the MVP vote. I'd be even more curious if he was batting .347 and the Brewers were in a playoff spot.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: MVP/CY/ROY Talk
I'm on the bandwagon that relievers, like Kimbrel, shouldn't win the CY award pitching a mere 60-70 innings all year.
Just like how its tough for me to say a pitcher should win the MVP, pitching only in around 32-35 games a year over a guy who plays in most likely 140+ games.7 National Championships

Re: MVP/CY/ROY Talk
I have no issues with Kimbrel or any reliever not winning the CY. I just don't see how anyone can say he hasn't been the best reliever in baseball this year."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. Re: MVP/CY/ROY Talk
I have no problem with opinions if they are backed up with facts. I have yet to see any facts that say Kimbrel has been anything but the best and I would say the same thing regardless of which team I root for."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. Chapman and Rodney both have a higher WAR than Kimbrel this year.Comment

Re: MVP/CY/ROY Talk
Agreed. I should probably clarify what I mean. Has Rodney done a phenomenal job as a closer? Yes, he has. Great ERA, lots of saves, etc. When you look at his rate stats, however, he hasn't been as good as Kimbrel. He has had an incredibly low BABIP (.215), probably aided by the Ray's defense, that has helped him. Kimbrel has been flat out unhittable (3.9 H/9 and 16.5 K/9...insane!). When I say Kimbrel has been the best, I mean he's that as a pitcher he has done his job (not allow runners/strike people out) better than anyone measured quantitatively."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Re: MVP/CY/ROY Talk
As someone with no dog in this fight, I'd choose Kimbrel as the best reliever in baseball this year. Near as I can figure, Chapman's and Rodney's edge in WAR is completely derived from 10 extra IP. For me, that's too little a difference to ignore Kimbrel's superior rate stats. I wouldn't say Kimbrel is an overwhelming choice, but he'd still be my pick.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that.
