Trade Discussion Thread

This is a similar idea as to what's in the MLB: The Show forum. Bring up an idea, provide some reasoning, and have others discuss.

Please, no ridiculous Harper/Trout trade scenarios. On a relate note, Felix Hernandez probably isn't being traded... Jack Z has denied it hundreds or thousands of times. Figured that would be brought up.

So, I have a couple scenarios to discuss.


One:

Mike Montgomery/Anthony Ranaudo for Lucas Harrell. Both teams are desperate for pitching- I mean, John Lester? Actually?- and Lucas Harrell just had a great season. Mike Montgomery/Anthony Ranaudo, however, fell off map. Heck, Montgomery wasn't even on the Royals' top 15 prospects a couple weeks ago. I am worried about Harrell in the AL East. Thoughts?

Two:

Colby Rasmus for Yovanni Gallardo. The Brewers need a young OF and don't really have up-and-comers. Gallardo has been a steady #2/3 type (closer to #2). The Brewers have some decent young pitching ready, like Johnny Hollweg, and Colby has huge potential. Colby's 2012 stats are... complicated. He started off piss-poor, then played like a God, and then got injured, but freaking Farrell made him play through it.

Red Sox need some youth that is MLB ready and Hosmer has been up for two years and Myers is pretty close to being ready. Lester gives them an ace that they need, Barnes is projected to be pretty good, Brentz has a pretty good stick and is pretty close to MLB ready, and finally Garin is one of our topper tier prospects that could help move Mous over to 1st and him to 3rd or possibly be their solve at second.

Now what do you guys think? Add more from what side if need be.

I think, while Barnes makes it tempting... Lester really shouldn't be the centerpiece for a Myers trade. But adding Hosmer on top makes it a definite no.

I think a Buchholz for Hoz deal would benefit both sides.

So what do you think the Red Sox would have to add to get this deal done? Like Vitek and Workman from the Red Sox and Luke from the Royals? Or do you think they don't match up that well for this type of trade.

Edit: Saw your Buchholz for Hoz edit, would love for that to happen. Haven't been happy with Buchh for awhile and would LOVE a long term 1B here and i think Eric could definitely benefit coming to Boston.

I honestly don't think you guys have the firepower to get Myers. I could see Hoz working though... Alex Gordon or Billy Butler COULD also work but I'm not so sure. Especially because Butler is a terrible 1B in general, but if you guys get past that I'm sure you'd like the bat.

Might as well give me two cents on these also.

One: Yeah it could probably work with a Ranaudo for Montgomery, not sure if you are implying a Lester for Luke trade though could be reading that way wrong but there is like a 1% chance that would happen ever.

Two: I like it but i think the Jays would have to add a spec or two like Matt Dean and Moises Sierra to get the deal done for Yovanni. So it would look more like:

Brewers Acquire:

Matt Dean
Moises Sierra

Lose-lose. Royals have a decent enough back-end, Hoch and Chen are just absolutely turrible. That rotation wouldn't get the Angels past the A's imho.

2. I think this deal could happen and i kinda wish it did since i love seeing trades and this one would be a big one.
