Re: Trade Discussion Thread
It all depends if they want to give up untouchables, because Nimmo + Flores + Wheeler + Syndergaard + Harvey should at least get things moving. Anything less and the Marlins won't (And shouldn't) pick up the phone."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: Trade Discussion Thread
I don't get that. Loria's a brilliant business man. It's just the way he does it in which he pisses everyone off so thoroughly. It's like the NHL lockout and Gary Bettman."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: Trade Discussion Thread
That's the problem. Buisness men are the owners/CEOs. He should leave the trades to Michael Hill and stay out of the player movement stuff. Maybe he should have a say, but not make. He needs to leave that to the specialists. I know I'm getting off-topic lol.Red Sox: 2018 World Series Champions!!!

Are they a cheap team? Yeah that's just Loria however this recent purge was deserving as none of their contracts worked out for the production they were receiving.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: Trade Discussion Thread
Josh Johnson had a pretty down year with an ERA or 3.8 and a WHIP of 1.28, he never looked like his old self at all really.
Mark Buerhle, had just about the same season with a little bit less of an ERA/WHIP and if i'm not mistaken(don't have the contract in front of me) got paid more or around the same as JJ.
Hanley Ramirez, Was awful as a Marlin in that season hitting .246 with the team, went into several bad streaks and who knows how many DPs he hit into during that time.
I know it's a cool thing to rag on the Marlins in the baseball world, but all these trades made sense given how the team/player were performing and the contracts they had for their performance. And this comes from someone who hates Loria just as much as the next Marlins fan.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Solid choice of words. By his standards yes, but a good year all around.

Buerhle has had pretty much the exact same stats every year for the past 12 years. You know what you're getting with him, and that's a VERY valuable and underrated thing nowadays, with injuries picking up.
Hanley had a .326 wOBA, 103 wRC+, nothing amazing but not exactly salary dump worthy."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

I don't know what all those fancy stuff means, but with my eyes Hanley Ramirez was straight garbage with the Marlins this past season and not much better beforeSaints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment
